I’ve been wondering when the really bad calls would start coming for Bama and Georgia for the SEC to protect their dream game of undefeated teams like they did in 09.

That year for the last several weeks both Bama and Florida got numerous terrible calls in their favor, includeding the Peterson interception

Single handedly one of the stupidest things said on this board (and that's saying something). There would literally have to be 20 people involved in this conspiracy, with none of them talking or selling their story to the New York Times or 60 minutes.

That's it. I couldn't remember the year. LSU fans complain about the Patrick Peterson NON-interception. That was a GREAT call compared to the UF vs Ark game. The worst call that year was the one to give UF their win over Arkansas.

An Arkansas player was half-arse running towards the end of a play. A UF player comes full speed to block him. The Ark player does a defensive block to protect himself and gets a personal foul. Video opens at the play in question.
https://youtu.be/jFLQGne3MBc?t=779

1st announcer, "What's he supposed to do? the guy was going to block him". 2nd announcer - Verne "WOW !!!". 1st announcer, " I don't get that, come on, the guy was trying to hit him 20 yards from the play and he get's called for THAT, my goodness, if you're an official you have to see it and be sure on that call???!!!". Verne - "1st down and 10 after the somewhat inexplicable pentalty".

Another horrible call that I didn't remember. Don't watch it unless you're a Bama fan. Video will open at the play. Listen to what the announcer has to say about this one as they show the replay.
https://youtu.be/jFLQGne3MBc?t=668

Description of video, "10 penalties, 92 yards. Arkansas 20, Florida 16, Refs 7."

All of the horrible calls start at 2:20 of the full video. Do yourself a favor and DON'T WATCH. If I was an Arkansas fan I would have wound up in jail. I feel sorry for them. Both teams knew, the refs new, the announcers knew, everyone watching the game knew that Ark was getting the big shaft and there wasn't a damn thing they could do about it.

From ESPN:
On a day when little went right for the Gators (6-0, 4-0 Southeastern Conference), Just about everything that could go wrong for the Gators did. They had four turnovers, three dropped passes, were gashed against the run and gave up more big plays in one game than they had all season. They missed a field goal and scored once in their first four trips inside the 20-yard line.

"You usually don't win that kind of game," coach Urban Meyer said. -- - - Well no shite Urban. Well, not without the refs help anyway. There is no way in hell UF could have won that game.

Those refs should have been thrown into a federal prison. All the shite about the black sox scandal, Pete Rose, and other crooked shite in sports and the most crooked of them all - the SEC officials - get to go about their business and sleep in their own bed every night.

Bleacher report - Arkansas Vs. Florida: One That Got Away and One That Was Given Away

quote:

Having said that, I'm really at a loss as to the referee behavior in this game. Many on BR and on message boards (for both Arkansas and Florida) are really ripping the refs over this game. And some are even alleging the worst kind of cheating...that is conference-sanctioned cheating to keep the national championship "players" in the hunt.

quote:

Last week, when Florida played LSU, Florida scored on an obvious penalty play and wasn't called. The refs later said they didn't "see" the play. But most think Florida has a better shot at the national title game than LSU did. Was Florida being aided by the refs? You be the judge.
quote:

Florida got another 15 yards with an unsportsmanlike conduct call on an Arkansas player for throwing a block...and this was shown by replay to clearly have been a self-defense block as the Florida guy was gunning for him.

Even if the ball bounces our way and we play above our heads the officials will be instructed to make sure we dont escape with a W. We are a long shot with all things being equal but the wont be. Bama is a favorite for a reason but a lock because of the League office.

Easy to mislead on the penalty stats. Refs can change drives or call penalties right before half or when the game is almost over to make things even out. Such as trash time stats in the NFL

USA Today - SEC officials admit mistake during Arkansas-Florida game

quote:

The SEC has notified Arkansas officials to let them know game officials made a mistake in calling a 10-yard penalty that helped Florida continue its final touchdown drive of the game in the Gators' 23-20 win on Saturday.
quote:

The call was a personal foul for a late hit on Razorbacks defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard on a first down play with UF at the Arkansas 21. The penalty moved the ball half the distance of the goal line, to the 10.
quote:

Hogs coach Bobby Petrino was outspoken on his Sunday TV show about officials calls in the game. Arkansas had 10 penalties for 92 yards, compared to three for 16 yards for the Gators

Baton Rouge has very thin skin with it comes to calls that we see going toward Bama - no way the SEC will make it happen but of course they do want the #1 team in the country to be from the SEC

I've never bought the league office conspiracy BS. However, I think it's human nature that a ref will be thinking that a questionable call will lead to getting his a$$ chewed out by Saban along with tapes being sent to the league office.

Offensive holding penalties can be judgement calls and some refs probably know it's better to not throw a flag against Bama unless very obvious.
