I have heard that he started drinking again in the past few years but cannot confirm it. That could be part of his problem today.

Awful for the guy, if accurate. Terrible to fall off that particular wagon if you do have a problem

No - he does NOT care. LSU has already paid him enough to clear over $10 Million after taxes and he never has to work again.

All of that crap in the OP was known when we hired him.

Hell, what's going on now is what I expected by this time in O's tenure. 2019 was the unexpected, not this.

Can't blame him for taking the job. Blame those who gave it to him.

I read his book. I support never “throwing “ people away. And people having multiple chances in life.

But really question anyone with this history being promoted to or placed in leadership role.

So he's always been a paranoid, out-of-control micromanaging douchebag? Tell me more.

Nine years ago, Ed Orgeron wanted to fight me. Three men and eight feet stood between us, and Orgeron, a former Division I defensive lineman who even today is considered the toughest coach in college football, wanted to close that distance in a hot second.

I was 24 years old, eight months into my first full-time job, wearing a Dillard’s sport coat two sizes too big and extending a business card at a man who was calling me a "motherfricker" and being escorted away in anger.

(I have no idea what the business card would’ve accomplished. It felt like the right move at the time.)

The staff’s new athletic director for football external affairs, a former high school coach named Hugh Freeze, tried to calm Orgeron.

"Uh Coach, this is the reporter that …" Freeze started.

"frick THAT MOTHERfrickER."

"Coach, I’m …" were the only words I managed. Orgeron walked down a hallway and through a staff-only entrance to the football offices.

Freeze made one last attempt. Orgeron swung and faced me.

"frick! WE ARE NOT GONNA LET THIS PROGRAM BE SABOTAGED!"

What's the story here?

You can add my story to that! At lambeau I yelled “hey coach that was unacceptable” dumb move long day of drinking and disappointed after giving Wisconsin the game. He drops his bag gets right up against the fence and says “listen here you little SOB I don’t have to take that shot from you Gd it!” And proceeds to chew my arse for like 5 minutes. As an army vet and a guy who has been in a few tussles I know the look you get when someone is coming after you with I’ll will! If that femce wasn’t there I would have gotten stomped! That’s not what I want from the ceo of my program!
