It seems that tanner reaves had really been playing well and that he had taken over the starting role at third. Then sec play started and Braswell got all three starts. Just wondering if I missed something? Reaves seems to be the more competent bat between the two by a long shot at the moment. Defensively Braswell has been better but not by much if you look at the stats.

Either way I’ll take a sweep and cjj obviously knows what he’s doing lol

Matchups.

Mizzou threw three lefties, Reaves is a lefty hitter

Braswell will likely start mostly against lefties. Reaves will come in for some offensive punch when we’re behind. Braswell will come in in the late innings when we have a lead. Braswell played all weekend because we had a lead and faced a frick ton of lefties

Braswell has proven he can get in done in the SEC so he will get his time. Reeves has all the tools and will play so my conclusion so this is a good problem to have.

You missed 3 LH starters for Mizzou.

Braswell deserves the opportunities, despite his early season struggles, because we have seen him do well in the SEC before. Luckily Mizzou came in throwing 3 lefties so it gave Braswell a good shot early and he did well. That earns him more opportunities going forward. Reaves is at his heels though. I'm sure you will see both play. That position may never be "settled" all season.

And Texas will probably start 3 more LHP this weekend.

When's the last time we faced 6 straight LHP to open SEC play

Reeves is a defensive liability but has a sweet eye at the plate both complicate one another it’s a long season . JJ would have no hesitation using Reeves as a pinch hitter he has the stroke .
This weekend will tell the men from the boys in Texas no more playing the sisters from the Salvation Army .

Bras was positive vs Mizzou - and I'm actually rooting for Tanner

The weirdest thing to me is how much LSU baseball fans act like you need "a lineup". Each game has its own lineup. It can be different each game. There are many factors that play into it. Why does 1 person need to be "the starter"??

Natural human reaction for it to be neatly organized. But i agree, i like options and mixing and matching when you have the ability

I agree, to an extent. The lineups can be adjusted based on match ups, defensive vs offensive needs, etc. Especially in a sport like baseball, you need opportunities to work through things sometimes. That goes for pitching, defense and hitting. So a constant revolving door isn't always ideal. But I think a situation of, Player A will start against right handers majority of the time and Player B will start against lefties is perfectly fine.

I think platooning based on lefty righty pitching matchup works well for now.

If something works 65% of the time, you will only hear about it during the 35% data slice, when it doesn't work. That doesn't mean it is the wrong move.
