OL was nasty and that was his background. Special teams guru. That was also his baby. Moffet was best in world for 10’years.

It’s truly amazing how ungrateful LSU fans are. Yall love to relentlessly shite on 2 guys that brought us half of our national titles. Y’all act like LSU has won 20 titles or something.

We won 2 championships with 2 low IQ head coaches. WOW! If we had a smart coach that whole time, I wonder how many we would’ve won?

Agree.

The Perrilloux dismissal had ramifications for the rest of Les's tenure.

Ask yourself this: why would Les ever hire Gary Crowton as OC? Crowton was known as a wide-open OC. Total opposite of Les's philosophy.

But after '08, Les went into a ultra-conservative mode from which he never returned.

Les went 3-3 vs Urban and was 3-2 vs Nick through 5 meetings. Buy Nick leveled the playing field in talent, benefitted from mulligans, scheduling, poor officiating, and was willing to adapt on offense.

He was a great oline coach.
He was a great run game coach.
He recruited at an elite level.
He generally hired good coordinators.

I dont understand the " les only won at lsu because of talent" stance. Who are these coaches winning titles and being a perennial powerhouse without talent.
Miles wasn't an elite coach but shitty coaches don't have the most accomplished tenures ever at a top 10 all time program.

Miles literally has as many top 5 finishes at lsu as saban, dietzel, and Mac combined.
Pure shite coaches don't achieve that. It was time to fire miles when we did but his tenure was the most successful in lsu history and its not debatable when using strictly facts.

still think the current versions of both Kirby and BK win 2-4 national championships at LSU if they were to go back in time and become LSU's head coach from 2005 - 2016, and wouldn't need the rest of CFB contenders to implode for any of them in the process. They're both far superior to Miles.

Yeah I dont think anyone would argue miles was ever one of the BEST coaches in cfb.
I agree that both Kirby and BK are easily better than Miles.

It’s crazy that all these years later there are people who start threads to vent their hate of a man who brought more wins than any other coach did to LSU and won as many natties as Saban (or anyone else).

Why didn’t LSU win despite Curly Hallman, Gerry DiNardo, Ed Orgeron’s last two years? Why didn’t they win as much under Charlie McClendon?

Had some Heisman caliber running backs though.

I think Les road the coat tails of Saban for several years, similar to Kentucky basketball and Tubby Smith following Pitino.

Miles had hired Crowton as OC in 2007 to try and open the offense up, and he hired Kragthorpe as OC in 2011 with the same idea. Kragthorpe had to step down because of Parkinson's.

That led to Studrawa as OC, who was replaced with Cameron, and that's what people remember as Miles' offense. But people forget the OCs with open offenses that Miles hired.

LSU has won a national title with the goat before he was completely the goat.

Then did it with a absolute clown

Then did it again with a swamp man

If BK can’t win a title that’s pretty embarrassing

Les had Nick to build for him

O had to actually rebuild the program thanks to Les but then he destroyed it

He really didn't. Kelly is the one who has had to actually rebuild the program.

Saban left in 2004, and didn't have a good recruiting class lined up that year.
ALL of Saban's players were gone by 2009; LSU's record after that:
2010 11-2
2011 13-1
2012 10-3
2013 10-3

Miles did "ride Saban's coattails" in respect that he inherited a solid program, but he kept the machine humming after Saban left.
