I get this is a floor thread, however I feel 10 wins is the ceiling for O.

He has lost two games in shortened interim gigs a piece and he still lost four games last season. Not even bringing up Ole Miss. I hated the Troy loss at home, complete blowout to miss st, and the ND loss was incredibly disappointing. Alabama is expected. The good thing is we started beating Arkansas again. However, they have a new regime now, along with many other bad SEC teams.

Hope I’m proven wrong.

Do you know why lines move up until the beginning of a game? It’s because if too much action comes on one side, the line moves.

The line moves to entice action on the other side. Because one side has too much. Because action is almost never equal. Unsubstantiated? Why because you said so? Hey Dave England everything you said is unsubstantiated. See how stupid that is?

9 wins with losses to AU, Bama, Nd, and UF sucks but it is to be expected every now and then.

However, 9 wins with losses to MSU, Troy, Bama, and ND sucks. No way to spin it. If LSU does what it’s supposed to do against Troy and MSU we win 11 games and then everything is different.

There are like three definitions of "floor" going in on this thread fwiw.

No doubt a disappointment. Without question an underachievement. But an epic failure would have been not being bowl eligible. I just think it's a bit of hyperbole.

This is where we're at.

Group 1: "9 wins is good enough."
Group 2: "9 wins is not good enough."

One group claims to be positive while labeling the other negative. I'll never understand how people can think championship aspirations equals negativity.

UGA as well. If these two teams aren’t meeting in Atlanta in December, I’ll take back all the nice things I’ve ever said about their coaches.

I mean...worst loss to state, ever in 90 years is pretty significant.

First loss to a sun belt team, ever, is pretty significant.

It is though. We beat a bunch of teams

Idiot LSU fans bitching about winning games. If this wasn't the Rant I would actually be surprised by this.

I don't disagree, but it's still just two games and I don't think those two games can make the entire season an epic failure.

10 wins is the floor with this team? Who is saying that? In my opinion, 10 wins is the ceiling. You can't lose that much on offense and come back better in the SEC. The defense will keep us in every game, but this has always been the case at LSU. The offense will struggle as guys learn their role.

No it isn’t. Winning games in the past doesn’t outweigh things that actually matter like current roster, QB, coaching, and schedule.

Fact: Current roster says we are the #3 team in the SEC.

Fact: If we do t have a QB ready to play then it is the fault in f the current coaching staff.

You realize it’s FAR more likely that we win 7-8 games total than it is to win 10+ right?

You bet we realize it. But we also realize it is NOT because of a lack of talent. If this team doesn’t win at least 10 games, then the coaches failed because according to the experts, there are only 2 teams in the SEC with more talent. (Buti is that even an excuse? After all, I was told that there isn’t a big talent gap between the #6 and the #25 rank so there has to be even less between the #6 and the #1 and #3 ranked teams right? Or does this logic only apply when it fits the Orgeron fans agenda?) If the coaches win more than 10 games, then they exceeded the talent level at LSU.

I lived through the 80s and 90s in Tiger Stadium. I have witnessed more than a few epic failure seasons. Last season wasn’t one.

It was just more of the same...disappointmentingly mediocre.

You are really trying to stretch this too far. As I said, your first post made it sound like you were saying that State had talent in the 50s.

We actually agree here.

I think a lot of people are confusing “floor” with “what is expected of an LSU Head coach in the 21st century”.

Since the arrival of Saban in 2000, LSU has not won less than 8 games. For years under Miles, fans lamented that “any idiot could get on the sidelines and win 10 games a year here.”

Going back to the OP, I don’t think anyone is saying that LSU’s floor is 10 wins. A lot of people are saying that because LSU’s roster is talented because Edward fired Canada and handpicked Canada’s successor, because Edward brought in Joe Burrow, a 4* composite who could probably start for 9 other SEC schools in addition to LSU, that hiding behind the excuse of “BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SCHEDULE?!” isnt going to cut it.

We lost 2 first round WR l, a first round RB and a #1 overall QB in 2006 and we were better in 07.

For reference we lost a 7th round QB, a 2nd Round WR, and 2 RBs in the 2 and 6th round.

I think It’s possible.

If they had happened towards the end of the season it would have been worse.

The way the team overcame the setbacks, whether through players returning or more experience it can be viewed as a positive by the team and regular fans.

Few things should surprise you, seeing as that you are impressed with LSU replacing Les Miles with a guy Miles beat head to head 3 times with an average margin of victory of 18 points.

Auburn gave us that game with retarded playcalling in the second half. They went away from what was beating us and stopped the clock many many times when they shouldn't have. We lose that game 9 times out of 10 easily.

It's Ok to admit we were lucky to win, much like the Troy '08 game.
