A lot of fans saying 10 wins is the floor for "this LSU football team" & in the same breath saying ole white boots is sta-sta-sta (waterboy) stupid. = me confused

Then add same 10 win floor & in the same breath saying worst recruiting class in the last decade. = me confused

Then add same 10 win floor & ? marks at who is the starting Center, and how the offense will look with no returning "SEC" starters at QB, RB, & WR then add a dash of New OL coach & New OC with new RPO offense being implemented. = me confused

One thing for sure is "wrongRob" has never been mistaken for the sharpest tool in the shed but the expectations seem a little cra cra even for me. I'm not giving the shrimper a pass or think we should lower the win floor however I'm conflicted by the fans 10 win floor expectations for this team with the amount of ? marks it has. These expectations are sure to ensue a melt of epic proportions eclipsing that of the dare I say Troy or the beat down by Miss. State. Sure LSU returns a Defense poised to keep us in every game & surly LSU has the opportunity to capitalize and steal a few of the tough matchups. I for one won't mismanage the clock or miss a tackle or throw a pic... I will be right here

All of this was covered in the LSU vs Opponets talent thread yesterday. It was quite entertaining. Enjoy the 12 page read.

What's the point of this? Even if you think the team underachieved last year, the man still won 9 games against an SEC schedule. It wasn't a total failure. Good enough? No. But, no need for the personal insults.

It was the worst the SEC has been in a long time. One win was considered good, and we needed a miracle to get that win.

(ETA: I do give credit to the staff for not letting the team give up once they got so far down against Auburn , to be fair.)

Last season was an epic failure given how weak our schedule was relative to the last several years.

9 wins is not an "epic failure" no matter how you spin the schedule. That's just ridiculous. Of course it isn't good enough, but come on, no need to go to extremes.

you are missing the point entirely "the shrimper" to me is a term of endearment.

There is a lot to the post that went over your head if that's all you can pick up.

It is though. We beat a bunch of teams that replaced their coaches, got gifted a win by Auburn, never were in the game against Bama.

Add that to getting physically dominated by Troy and getting blown out by State, and you tell me how the season isn't a failure.

Last season was a spectacular failure. That is a fact, and not extreme.

Let me clear it all up for you.

Typical fan of Orgeron:
Me like Orgeron. Me think he good coach. Me think him gumbo be good. Me like me understand coach when coach talk. Me defend coach and make excuse for coach regardless what actual facts are.

Typical LSU fan:
It would appear, according to analysts who are paid to know these things that LSU is the 3rd most talented team in the SEC and only slightly behind Georgia and Bama. Now, tell us exactly why, knowing this fact, that we should not expect to win 10 games.

Let’s also discuss the fact that we were told just how much more talented of a team Mississippi State had over LSU last year by so many people here on tRant. Well, it would appear, according to analysts who get paid to know these things, they were nowhere near as talented as LSU. Yet somehow they and Troy managed to run LSU off the field.

To be fair, the talent rankings had LSU at 6 and State at 25. Not as a big of a difference as it seems you are saying. Troy, however was at 116.

No one liked the losses, but the record was not as horrible as a lot of people want it to be.

Considering when you look at the Troy game and the Notre Dame game, considering last season could have been 11-2, then maybe Edward would have a little more leeway to go 8-5/9-4 this year against a tougher schedule than 2017.

However LSU went 9-4, which is more or less in line with the previous 4 years (10-3,8-5,9-3,8-4) so now if he wins 7 or 8 games it becomes that much more difficult for him to say “hey look we’re improving”.

Last year’s schedule was incredibly easy for LSU. Probably the softest schedule LSU has had in years. no marquee OOC game (other than a homecoming game against a conference champion) Florida was bad, and our cross-divisional game was against an even worse Tennessee. I think the 2017 team was worse than the 2016 team, but had a better record due to the schedule (and a cancelled game).

Enter 2018. The OOC game gets a lot tougher, Florida can’t possibly be as bad, and trade out Tennessee for Jawja.

It’s not just that LSU has a more difficult schedule, its that we have a difficult schedule on the heels of one of our easiest schedules. It makes it look even harder.

So yes, LSU’s schedule is hard, but it’s not unfair. It’s consistent with the demands of the job, and if Edward is or isn’t cut out for it, I believe the results of this season will bear that out.

Congratulations, but do not get too uppity, a lot can happen in 18 years. You are still young.

Hope it keeps getting better for you.

A lot of LSU fans - 10 wins is the floor anything else is unacceptable Burrow is the real deal trust me I watched his spring game and a few passes he threw vs. Bowling Green up 51 points in the 4th quarter

Those teams that were shite and we should have been better than? You're right, it was the same. Last year was a disappointment. We won nothing of consequence and were out of the national discussion before October.

So if we played nothing but high school teams outside of Bama and UGA this year, you'd say that 10-2 record is anything to brag about?
