The first of these NCAA IARP cases is the Memphis/James Wiseman/Penny Hardaway case. It wss announced in March 2020. There has been no resolution or even announced progress one year later.

If this can be used as a time template for the Wade case, I would be surprised if anything is resolved soon. The arbitration panel must finish it's investigation and make recommendations to the NCAA, I believe. Those could be for dismissal or for violations to be made. If violations made, I think LSU and Wade are given time to respond. The panel then makes decisions based on this process. If I am correct on this process, it appears that the case is unlikely to be resolved in 2021.

From what I can tell, there are 5-6 schools who have cases pending with the IARP. LSU being one. You are right, the Memphis case was first and has been sitting for a while. The IARP was established to investigate "complex" cases "independent" of the NCAA.

With us being a year into the process and still no decision about Memphis, it seems the earliest we would hear something on LSU would be mid-summer...if that.

Who know what will happen, but I keep going back to the fact LSU played Smart (the subject of the "strong arse offer") for TWO full seasons after the wiretap became public. I can't imagine LSU would allow that unless they felt somewhat confident about their case. Hell, Wiseman at Memphis was suspended by the NCAA to start his season for several games, played a few, then left the program.

Honestly, there is a massive uphill battle for the NCAA in this. For Wade in particular, the stuff people are talking about was not admitted as evidence in the FBI case. That means the FBI didn't/won't turn that tape over to the NCAA as actual evidence to be used against Wade.

The next thing they would want is Wade's testimony to Alleva when his boss asked him to talk. But remember ... Wade DIDN'T talk. He told his boss to pound sand, sat through a suspension as a result, returned to the team, and waved goodbye to Alleva. So they don't have anything there, either.

New AD, coach can't be forced to incriminate himself, no tapes available. The whole investigation is going to wind up going "We know you did some stuff, but we can't prove it. Don't do it anymore."

Also no apparent money trail, no player admitting they were paid, and the big one: SMART PLAYED FOR 2 YEARS AFTER HE WAS CLEARED.

Well, LSU did suspend smart and file for his re-instatement from the NCAA after the news broke about the supposed wiretap. The NCAA cleared Smart to play in the NCAA tournament 2 years ago. No new information has come out since then... so unless the wiretap ends up in the hands of this new committee, this case is DOA.
