Realistically, how much longer will Saban be the HC at Alabama?

He turned 67 last week, his contract goes through 2025, that’d put him at 74 at the end of the contract. I’d imagine he’ll have a job as long as he wants one in Tuscaloosa.

But it’s hard to see him going the Bobby Bowden or Mack Brown route and having a head coach in waiting, can’t see him allowing himself to be undermined in that way. At 74, by the time of the end of the contract, does he retire from coaching?

Unless there’s a serious downturn in their play, I don’t see why he wouldn’t go on coaching until he basically drops dead like Bear Bryant did.

I'd say probably that time or maybe another couple of years. The guy has ZERO reason to quit.

This. Recruits lining up to go there. Not like he has to beat the trail that hard. He's good until he decides he wants another challenge, which at 67, I dont see that.

The only other challenge he’d have is to take an NFL job which I doubt highly that he’d ever do that, he’s making as much if not more than NFL coaches, he basically runs the state of Alabama.

He seems like one of those guys who would die in retirement. I mean what the hell else is he gonna do? Fish? He doesn't even know to top off the fuel in his boat.

That's a whole other ballgame. He tried that experiment and failed bigly. Short of maybe taking over for Belicheck, I think he stays put.

He had said before he doesn’t want to coach at 70 but he also doesn’t look 67. So maybe he feels younger than he is. I don’t think he leaves in the next 5 years without a health problem or NCAA violation.

Seven years...... this is his last year at Bama, then 7 years at Cleveland Browns... he needs to prove to his ego he can coach at the pro level...

Why would he leave Alabama? His ego is being stroked just as he likes it and needs it to be. Do you honestly think that he would leave his perfect world at Alabama to go fail at Cleveland? I think Cleveland would have to offer major ownership interest for Saban to even look at them. I still don’t think he would leave Alabama until he was well into his 80’s.

Kirby is a Georgia Alum, he ain't leaving there and as good as Dabo is he isn't Saban. They would still be really good but would take a step back
