Exactly so he wants an extra year of eligibility as a transfer, can’t blame him.

I was initially in this camp, but I think CBK can learn what he needs to know from Nuss in the bowl practices without seeing him in the game. It’s like the NFL scouts that care a lot more about Senior Bowl practice week than they do the actual Senior Bowl game.

If the kid decides not to play he’s learned everything he needs to know.

Seriously. Passing up a chance to start isn’t reasonable.

It's so easy for yall to say shite like this when you aren't the one trading in an entire year of eligibility for one game. What happens if he plays the bowl game, and then DOESN'T get the job next year (because playing the bowl game isn't going to give him that one way or the other

Then he redshirts next year.

Have you even thought about it?

It only makes sense if he’s transferring this year.

I’m very suspicious this is the case if he really isn’t playing.

If you had kept reading you'd have seen that it was addressed but I guess I gotta say it again. The point is we're not fortune tellers, he may not have the opportunity to redshirt again, he may be called upon to play an entire season if he's a backup if something happens to the starter. We don't know. What we do know for sure right now is he's just 1 game away from a redshirt, one game away from having 4 years of eligibility left and 3 years of eligibility left, and he may need every one of those 4 years so why blow it all on a game against Kansas State?

And for all we know he may decide to play anyway. All I'm saying is if he chooses to redshirt I'm not going to hold it against the guy and I highly doubt the coaching staff will either.

I'm in. I'm friends with O'Dowd's uncle. And I love Kirklin.

You are right, I didn't read the whole thing. I just went back and re-read. Holy shite.

It's one of the dumber posts I've read.

You mean that great opportunity to play in one meaningless game and lose an entire season of eligibility.

If he needs an extra year of eligibility he’s probably getting passed up by Walker, anyway.

1. Despite the fact that it's a bowl, it's still real live competition. He's had very little of this and needs to be exposed to it
2. If he's committed to LSU and wants to be the man, 4 years should be enough for him to do it
3. If he's not, he'll transfer anyway, so who gives a f***
If he doesn't play he needs to transfer now. Would you follow a team leader who could play but doesn't--BY CHOICE-- and leaves your team at a disadvantage BUT wants you to follow him NEXT year when he wants to play? How can you trust that guy? No--you back out on your teammates now you need to find new teammates.
I don't believe Doug would condone it. Has to be Garrett on his own.

EDIT: This is about the player/players but what do you think Coach K would think about Nuss?

This me-first bullshite needs to go. Idk if people are just too young to remember but Travis Daniels burned his redshirt for one game. He was quoted “I play for the name on the side of my helmet, not the back of my jersey”. Stepped up when needed Randal Gay got hurt and we didn’t have anyone else. If he had the mentality of many today, we lose the 2001 SECCG.

Now we have fans making excuses about “needing to keep his extra year of eligibility in case he transfers”…

Playing in this game gives him tape for other teams to get interested in if he decides to go, and he can redshirt next year because LSU is 100% getting a transfer QB. Hell Houston let D'Eriq King, their starter, redshirt four games into the season 2 years ago and then he transfered to Miami.

It tells me all I need to know if the guy doesn't play in the bowl.

Looks like that is what is going to happen. Nussmeier’s obsession with his redshirt is going to be looked at as a very bad decision in the years to come. How do you let your team down like that? You recruit lots of players to join you, then you tell them you will not play with them???

And you will want them to follow you from then on? After you alone decided to let them down and not play?
That's not the kind of commitment to the team Coach K is going to foster. Hell, his dad wouldn't tolerate it as a Coach!

I would love for O’Dowd to get to throw some live passes and Kirklin to play QB.

We want Kirklin running more but maybe O’Dowd can actually step up in the pocket unlike Max/Nuss.
