From Tim: Everyone I speak to is very concerned about the defense. We tend to focus on the negative, speculate, and worry ourselves to death. The defense isn’t what we are accustomed to, but guess what? It’s ok…everything is going to be alright. Our offense is prolific, the best we’ve ever seen. They score at a very fast pace. This has hurt the defense some. The days of 6-8 min grinding offensive drives are over. We get the ball, we score, and put the defense right back on the field. Also, we’ve been dominating opponents in the first half. Teams come out blazing in the second half, and we tend to soften up. But we are averaging around 48 points per game and we are giving up around 24. I will take this all day long. We should be 12-0 going into the SEC championship game. I really like our chances vs Georgia. Then, looking ahead to Ohio St and Clemson. Neither team is as battled tested as our Tigers. Ohio St may pose the biggest threat, but with our offense, and the special meaning behind that game for Joe Burrow, I truly believe this season will end with another National Championship for LSU. Ok, got a little bit ahead of myself. First things first….take care of business vs Arkansas next Saturday. But I believe Tiger fans need to relax a little, and soak up the absolute joy of what this season has been 10 games in. The defense isn’t going to change very much over the course of the next few weeks. Bend but don’t break. I have a feeling our offense isn’t going to change much either, and that bodes well for all Tiger fans. We can critique all we want, but the fact is, we are the best team in the country and I dare any team to stop us. We all know the saying, we have to outscore them to beat them. Who can’t we outscore? It remains to be seen, but I like our chances against anyone. It’s a great time to be a Tiger!

and just my two cents, i think the Defense will get a little better... when they play Vs someone really good, they step up, its what athletes do... and we have a ton of them... I actually feel better about our Defense when we play a really good team... they get up for it...

Is this what we said when our Defense was over the top good? Don't worry guys, score 12 points and we will win! We are going to be ok!

btw, that 12 included the 7 the defense had to score because our offense was so bad.

Edited to add, I don't think our defense is as bad as some think, but to say there aren't concerns about our defense is delusional.

This fan base is now drunk on offensive production.

Lets put it both together, how about that.

I understand why people are upset, this defense isn’t what we’re used to seeing at LSU. But I’d rather we have an above average defense with an offense that can score at will than an outstanding defense that has to hold opponents to 10 points because our offense is inept.

The team needs the defense to be better for the goals the team surely has.

When someone says “concerned “, what are they referring to?
- that we have to stop a team on the last possession to win?
-that we get down 3 scores and have to hold a team while we claw back into the game?

I don’t think these things are gonna happen. If our defense holds a team for a half while we haul arse ahead...fine. We’re gonna win the game. It’s been proved over and over. LSU fans can’t take nail biters! That’s football. Win and move on.

most of the better teams, including Vanderbilt (38) have scored over 30.

The excuse of our offense scoring too fast and wearing out our defense needs to go away. We came out ahead in time of possession and when they started making 1-2 play touchdowns we had been dominating TOP.

We are soooo close to a championship we can smell it. That’s why people are getting antsy when they see our defense perform like that. We all know if there is one thing that will keep us from winning it all, it’s going to be the defense.

To have another data point for Ole Miss performance against good defenses.....they scored 31 on Bama, with 3 TD's in the 2nd half. Plumlee ran for 109 on them.

They scored 37 on LSU with 4 TD's in 2nd half. He ran 212 on LSU with half of that coming on 2 runs and the dude is fast and won't be caught if he is in the secondary running north south.
We will be OK.

The down side of having a fast scoring offense is the defense gets worn down before the game is over. Conditioning must be a priority next year for the defense

Did you actually watch the Vandy game or are you like the rest of these clowns that think Vandy's offense scored 38 ?

Last week Alabama drops 41 on us and everyone is celebrating.

Ole Miss drops 38 on us and the sky is falling this week.

People need to chill out.

Considering 1 score was a punt return, Ole Miss scored more on our defense than Bama.

Ridiculous to compare the two.

You have to score to win, period. Regardless how much you give it.

It doesn't matter if you give up 30 and score 60.

Absolutely idiotic comparison.

Spot On !
The defense have been good enough so far , so your point is a great one .
BTW , the defense made 2 stops to end the game in Oxford to finish the game .

People need to listen to Coach O !
ONE TEAM ONE HEARTBEAT !
There will be no finger pointing on this TEAM !

This is pure bull. I am an ex-high school coach. A defense should attempt to take away what the offense wants to do by utilizing personnel and designing a scheme. Plumlee wants to run. You can talk about the spread and all of that, but we should have used a scheme and personnel to invite him to throw the ball. We have got to dance more dances. What about using a true four-man front. What about disguising the intentions of our defense? I know most of you will criticize this, but you need to ask yourself, are you satisfied with our defense? If it is a matter of personnel (I do think this is part of the problem) address it through recruiting; this also seems to be taking place.
