What made OBJ and Jarvis special was we didnt throw the ball as much back then so a lot more of their catches were for significant gains. Back then we probably threw it 20-25 times a game. Now it is 35-40 times.
Yes, and in 2013 Mett was underrated. LSU was the first SEC school in history to have a 3,000+ yard passer, TWO 1,000+ year receivers, and a 1,000+ yard running back (Jeremy Hill at over 1400 yds). Not bad for a Les Miles team.

Chase and Jefferson
Nabers and Thomas
OBJ and Landry
The big gap is due to what Chase and Jefferson did in the postseason. Maybe those other duos would have shown out as well given the opportunity but you can't ignore the postseason carnage that C&J inflicted on all comers in 2019.

No love for Tony Moss and Alvin Lee

And Les still had his hand in the offense.
To me, no one overtakes Jefferson and Chase. Nabers and Thomas would be next. Mett wasn't on the level of Burrow or JD5, but he was very good that year. But you are right. The defense held us back from at least winning the West.

I believe it was OBJ in an interview a few years later who said, "How on earth did we lose 3 games that year?"

but Chase and Jefferson are legit HoFers if they can stay healthy.
Jarvis and OBJ were putting up stupid numbers the first 4-5 years of their careers in the NFL too

Chase Jefferson definitely the best

The last two tandems had the distinct advantage of playing with a Heisman winner.
Mett was good, and OBJ and Landry were great, but all three were held back by the caveman offensive philosophy of one Les Miles.
