I saw somebody mention they'd have Cohen over Mainieri. Well...

You may be referring to me. I said that if Cohen had won the CWS last year I would have to consider him at #1 or #2 however I should have just put him at #2 with Mainieri at #1 and not allowed any doubt. Besides the fact that I hate Cohen, Mainieri owns MSU on a yearly basis. I do believe that he does a good job of coaching up his teams, but he is a bit whiny for my taste and the getting tossed to motivate his team schtick is getting old. As you point out, Mainieri's statistics are better in every category.

Edit: But clearly, having not won the CWS, he is #3 at best with Corbin ahead of him and Mainieri at #1.

Yes, Jared Mitchell was like our fifth best hitter and Chad Jones barely pitched.

I know I'm late to the party but if you think we beat Texas without Chad you just don't know shite about baseball. Chad got in their head and that was it for them.

I have never been fully sold on CPM either. He seems to do less with more.

Yeah only 3 innings....

How many runs were we up by when he came into game 3?

Game 1 he pitched an inning? And therefore we couldnt have won it without him? Do insane people realize they are insane? (In my best brad pitt voice)

Chad Jones was good but if we are handing out, "Couldn't have won it without him" awards for the 09 CWS Title, that goes to DJ Lehmieu bubba. Remember? He was the guy who hit the RBI double to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs?

Pretty sure that constitutes as "Couldn't have won it without him"

The facts don't lie and CPM has and absurd amount of facts backing up his credentials in a period of the most combative era in cb history. The SEC is tougher than ever while he has been the coach, college baseball is thriving with many good to very good programs spending more money than ever before to scout, coach and develope facilities.

Yet we are still one of the most consistent winners if not the most consistent. CPM is being judges by some of the guys on this board just as dreadfully as CLM. People ignore most of the facts to enhance their opinion.

Make it stoooop!

Also, it was 9-4 when Jones entered the game. LSU had just put up 5 runs in the top of the 6th.

Lsu and the national platform for exposure they play on sell itself. No recruiting like football is going on. College kids go where they will play the most. That's it. Lsu sells itself. No real recruiting going on

They were both told they would be the ace one day.. Ey both wanted to get drafted. They needed exposure for that. Lsu guaranteed it. Do you need to be enlightened anymore?

And ND is the same kind of platform bro. They WANTED to come to lsu, maybe they even wanted to play for maineri. But when you're that good it doesnt really matter

Then why did recruiting start to suffer during the later years of Smoke Laval'a tenure?

How do you think maineri "recruited" a guy like McMullen? Tell me what maineri did to get him on campus. And every other kid for Louisiana for that matter

His connections to MLB and his history of success, not to mention that national championship ring that nobody else in the SEC can show him, would do it for me.

Maybe in state talent was down. Lsu wasn't that good with smoke. Maybe recruits perception of lsu had momentarily change with smoke coaching.. Just maybe.

Why would recruits' perception of LSU change during the Laval era?

His connections to the MLB? Haha. Believe what you wanna believe.

Maineri pulled mcmullens scholarship out of high school. Then after McMullen "proved" himself in juco he reoffered.

McMullen asked why did you pull my offer in high school and maineri dint have th balls to look him in the eyes and tell him because he didn't think he was good enough. Be quiet
