Just for posterity's sake, let's hope a mauling of Kentucky will bring these up a bit.

It may not. LSU's rushing defense should improve though. Kentucky will be playing from behind from the get-go, so it will be throwing quite a lot to try to catch up. That means more yards given up passing, but should result in more TOs if our DBs hang onto the ball.

The short fields really have an effect on this stat.

Nice to see some of our offensive stats improving. If you recall under Crowton, pretty much all of our offensive stats were near the bottom.

This, and show me the schedules of the teams ahead of us. We've played some pretty damn good teams thus the #1 rank.

This is the only defensive stat that counts in the end. I remember the LSU/OU national champ. game, and heading into halftime they interviewed Stoops and asked him about LSU's #1 defense. He said something about OU being the #1 defense, and that LSU was only #1 in scoring defense. I yelled at the TV that scoring defense is what counts. No one ever won a game by sheer yards alone.

As long as LSU stays in the top 5 when it comes to scoring defense, I won't care if they're dead last in all other categories.

Maybe the most douche moment I've ever seen in a halftime interview. What the heck did that matter at that point? OU couldn't move the ball at all on LSU that first half, and yet Stoops was whining about stats????

Passing Defense: #79 (235.75 yds/gm)
Passing Efficiency Defense: #19 (102.95 Opp Rating)

These two numbers are important because it shows that passing 63 times to rack up 450+ yards is not super impressive. It leads to this...

quote:

Turnover Margin: #4 (2 margin/gm)

And is a by product of teams being down by 20+ pts to LSU in the 2nd half of these games.

The following is a d*mn strong stat considering the high scoring offenses that LSU has played so far (as opposed to N. Texas, Kent State, and Penn State)

allowing 2 negative yards of punt return yardage per return is #2. Who is number 1?
