Wait, people are mad about this? I thought we didn't want to go to the Gator bowl because that meant we got passed on?

You're dealing with LSU fans here.

people would actually play in a lesser bowl against a lesser team in a lesser city in a lesser time slot because of name recognition.....believe it or not

1) Michigan is MUCH more popular than Iowa, and would generate MUCH more pub
2) Especially with the Miles and Cameron tie in
3) Their run defense SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKSSSSS. Iowa's doesn't.

After the BCS bowls, Gator, Cap One, and Outback are really no different. They're all early Jan 1 bowls. You hope for the best possible matchup that will bring the most pub to the team. It ain't Iowa.

Yeah I mean honestly Im conflicted. If the SEC and Alleva let a 8-4 TAMU on a 2 game losing streak where one of the games was a 21 point loss to us get selected over us IMO it would be a kick in the crotch IMO. On the other hand the general public would see LSU vs Michigan on New years day and think heck thats a dang good bowl, whereas LSU vs Iowa......meh....

I don't give a shite about ratings, but I do like high visibility games for recruiting.

Of course you would.. And if that would have happened you would have been saying "I'd rather be playing Michigan in the gator"

Nothing to do with this year, maybe, but historical powerhouse with a FAR better fanbase and following. I couldn't even tell you how Iowa did this season because NOBODY follows them.

Jacksonville is DUE EAST of Baton Rouge, you don't even change interstates lol.

Miles AND Cameron being from Michigan (the program) would've been a better storyline and generated more interest than anything Iowa can offer.

Plus, as stated, we could've crammed the ball down Michigan's throat, which is important starting a true freshman QB.

Lame. I have zero interest in this matchup. Iowa is as boring as it gets

The SEC has GOT to get out of this 3 florida/B1G early morning NYD bowls thing. They're just boring as shite.

They need to add a Pac tie in for a bowl in the worst possible way.
