Despite the catchphrases (In Wade we trust), the cute nicknames (the general), and the memes (it’s an ongoing investigation), he was still about a half-arse coach. I’ve said it all along and been scourged on here for it. It’s time to improve.

While we’re here an I just say how fricking stupid odell Beckham jr was for handing cash out on national tv. Idk if I can think of anything dumber in the history of anything

Committing 5 level 1 violations at the University of Kansas gets you a lifetime contract but LSU is the one who lacks institutional control. Make it make sense.

The (mafia) NCAA says, “we are a legitimate business” even though we’re the only “business” you are allowed to deal with. Makes sense to me.

The NCAA never accepts self imposed penalties without imposing more. This is going to hurt both programs.
FWIW, one of the 247 guys (I don’t remember who) said he thinks this is the last we hear of the football stuff. Which gives more weight to the getting rid of Wade to save the football program rumor.

As Jerry Tarkanian once said, the NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that it put Cleveland State on probation.

This - see the last time with basketball. We self-imposed some pretty significant penalties on ourselves and the NCAA tacked on some more.

There are text messages from Self backed by testimony implicating him that said texts were offers.

Just like our states oil royalties. Never the same as other states. We always get fricked and just take it.

Which is why I said in another thread that I suspect that the punishments have been worked out already.
In real world negotiations you do not offer a major (profitable) employee as a sacrificial lamb unless you know for sure that you will receive something more positive in return. And no one trusts the ncaa.
Hopefully, this means football is left out of things. Also, LSU can offer the suspensions from a year ago of both Wade and of Smart as “self-imposed” penalties. Problem is that the ncaa will want to show that they are boss after a 3/4/5 year investigation. They will undoubtedly impose something .

Wade paying out of his own bank account Trump's this stupidity.

recall there being an extra layer of insulation that differentiates it from the allegations against Wade
If that’s the case then everyone needs to shut up about Woodward.
I would have loved to kept Wade as much as anyone, but Jesus man. Paying people from your own account??
Yea that’s pretty hard to deny or even attempt to deny.
I don’t see where LSU had much of a choice but to part ways. Can’t be that damn sloppy. Texts from his personal cell and payments from his own account. Really thought he would’ve been more careful. That’s pretty arrogant

Wade’s intelligence has to be questioned here.

It’s “you’re “ , not “your”.

Wade had to go. There was no way around it.
I read through several posts on the other thread where people are losing their minds about the firing. I just don't understand the meltdown. I mean everyone heard the recordings right? I was surprised he didn't get fired then. It doesn't matter that all these other basketball programs were making deals with players. They had him recorded talking about his offer. If you watch the interviews with Wade around the time of that release you can see that he is hiding something. The guy is dirty and he got caught. I don't know how you can do anything else but let him go. It definitely has the smell of a lack of institutional control. I'm not a fan of the timing, but if you're trying to mitigate the impacts of all this you have to take action. At the end of the day, like it or not, the NCAA still has control. With everything that was going on I just don't see how Wade was going to be able to stay on as HC. People can get pissed at the NCAA, Woodward and everyone else but the person they should really be pissed at is Wade himself. He should have stayed above board, run a clean program built on integrity and character. If you're a good coach, then be a good coach. He got caught up in the pressure to win fast and made some bonehead decisions. Shame on him, cost him his job and our program has to start over again. Not sure that LSU really had a choice. I just hope the damage doesn't spread to other programs.

We self reported the violations. LSU had nothing to do with the OLOL fiasco, and OBJ was just drunk. Nothing here to worry about

LSU had no other option. Alleava really screwed LSU, Woodward cleaning up the mess.

Read ALL of the proposed violations in detail. All of them. There are literally maybe 2 that they could possible prove besides the football one. The bribe and the Armstrong one.
