It's not the responsibility of O to babysit another grown arse man! Apparently, you did not attend college because you clearly don't know how the academic process works! You're the problem with college football because you put these players on a pedestal and think the world should bow to their every need. Emery is a grown arse man and is totally responsibility for his own classes! However, if you want to contact Emery and tell him you will wipe his arse every time he goes to the restroom, you go right ahead! I prefer to treat him like the grown arse man he is!

I don’t really think anyone is saying that Emery does not hold some responsibility here. He does. He’s responsible for his academics.

But it’s the multitude of continued attrition that’s happening. You have to start wondering why it’s a chronic issue. Do you know how bad it’s been?

If you would like to get a different perspective on what these kids and administration go through watch the Netflix documentary, "Last Chance U". One of the series is about East Mississippi Community College. Most of these student athletes are in no way prepared to do what they need to do to stay eligible, much less select what classes they need to take.

Nobody held by hand for scheme classes. I knew the semester before what I needed to take each semester.

More down than upvotes should tell you a lot about what our society has become. So sad.

It’s sad to recognize stupidity? Of course when you are as ignorant and stupid as the OP, you can’t see that.

I disagree. Sure, Emery is to blame, but would this happen at Bama? No! Saban would have had academic advisors monitoring Emery's class performance, talking to his teacher, and doing whatever is necessary to make sure he passes. And Saban would have someone in charge of all of those advisors; he would regularly meet with that person and make sure things were going well. If an important player was falling through the cracks Saban would perform some kind of triage.

The problem with Orgeron is that he does not have the maturity, management skills or intellectual capacity to put in place and run all of the processes necessary for enduring success. I wrote this on this board back when he was hired, then stood in amazement when he won the National Championship. But it was valid then, and it's valid now.

If it’s true then Emery is an idiot. Football players are way dumber these days than they were 20 years ago. I wouldn’t mind seeing a little accountability here and there.

I agree with this.

Everybody else on the team somehow managed to pass enough class to stay eligible to play. There comes a point where these young adults need to do young adult things.

This is not on Coach O.

I mean he isn’t really at LSU to go to school. He was a 5 star athlete that signed up to go to LSU for 3 years as a platform for the NFL. There needs to be more oversight on these kids that probably wouldn’t be in college without athletics. Schedule their classes take them to classes on golf carts, have girls do their homework and tests etc. So they can spend most of their time practicing and learning the playbook.

I know exactly how it works! Emery is a normal college student when it comes to academics, period!

Honestly you have zero clue how it works. Every student athlete has an academic advisor the Coach and the athletic department get weekly reports on student athletes and the primary function of the academic support staff is to keep scholarship athletes eligible.

We have an entire staff that does it and they report to the HC.

The ball was dropped here. Someone in the academic support staff should have caught this (and they work for O).

If you don’t understand this you are clueless.

Not Head Coach's job to micromanage players' grades.

No it is not his job to chase kids around campus to go to class, but it is the Head coach's job to ensure that the right systems and organization are in place, using the almost limitless resources available to the program, to ensure that the players on the football team are meeting the NCAA requirements for academics which is not mandated for every other student on campus. This is part of being CEO of a program, which O is currently failing at.

Wrong again. No other normal college students have NCAA mandated minimum number of hours required to attend and GPA to maintain to be able to participate in an NCAA sport.
