He needs to keep those freakishly long arms up all day on Saturday. Hopefully bat some balls down

met him in person. I didn't know they made teenagers that damn big. He looks like a Black Bain (Batman reference)

This is so key. He gets the ball out too fast to count on ever getting home. But we’ve got tall dudes with long arms who can really affect the game if they will just consistently get them up. Especially Gaye. What if, on his egregious targeting play against Florida State, instead of launching himself into the QB’s face, he’d have launched himself straight up with those long-arse arms and big paws above his head? Does he alter his sight just enough to prevent the perfect pass? Alter his throwing lane? Block it? Tip it to himself and house it?

I hope that was drilled a ton this week due to the offense and the unlikelihood of sacks. But I’ve never understood why it’s not ingrained into every pass rusher since high school as the default if you’re not gonna get home. Not leaving your feet necessarily, but at the very least getting your hands up. There is zero downside. Drives me crazy.

Human nature, especially considering these are split second decisions. Their job is to get to the quarterback, so you never want to concede that by slowing yourself down to put your hands up.

This couldn't possibly be emphasized too often. I know that getting to the QB is foremost on their minds, but you're not going to get to quick pass quarterbacks.

This entire thread about this guy and he's not even going to play this weekend.

He's still hurt unless by some miracle he healed in days.

The thread title is about him, but the thread has turned—rightfully—into our front guys—whoever they are—having to get their hands up on just about every play to affect his vision and maybe bat down a few balls, especially on 3rd downs. We’ve got to get off the field by any means possible. In 2 games, the dude has only been sacked 3 times and hit only 5. He gets the ball out too fast to count on getting all the way home. But we can make it harder for him to see where’s he throwing and maybe even alter it. We’ve got to do whatever it takes to prevent him from getting into a rhythm.

Like I said, it’s always driven me crazy dudes don’t just default to getting their arms up when they know they’re not getting home. I remember a Saints’ game 5-6 years ago when Cam Jordan decided to get his hands up. I think he batted down like 6 passes, and I think maybe even picked off a couple he tipped. And then never did it again.
