Hi all,

SC fan here looking to make a trip down for our game next year on Nov. 14, 2020. Always wanted to experience Death Valley. So before I can really plan anything I gotta figure out the best place to stay.

Hotels in BR or Airbnb the better option? Or do you recommend staying in New Orleans and if so is there some kind of shuttle to and from the games from there?

A little background if that makes a difference: Would be a few college friends in our early 30s. We've all been to N.O. before so we don't HAVE to stop there, but would still make it a long weekend if that is the better route. We will be flying in (I guess to NO?) and this group never seems to have a DD.

Thanks for any help!

I'll let the other baws brief you on travel info.

But for Death Valley itself, tell someone you've never been and you will be full and drunk within the hour.

Staybridge suites would be the easiest place to stay as you can walk to the stadium

Stay at a hotel in BR. Book as soon as you can because the rooms get expensive and booked for home game weekends.

See above for tailgating info.

Don't do this. Fly into Baton Rouge. Very easy, and more convenient than N.O. There's some nice hotels in downtown BR. You can take a shuttle from the Pastime restaurant to the stadium and back.

Apologies in advance for the lack of public transport between Nola and BR. Residents are afraid of taxes and politicians are afraid of using taxes efficiently

Air BnB is pretty bare in BR. Check it out in case theirs more options than usual because LSU game day, but overall AirBnB is a wasteland

Not sure of your schedule but I would fly in Thursday and stay the night in NO to get that out of the way then Friday and Saturday stay in BR. Get to the campus before the sun is fully up for the easiest and fullest experience.

Fly to BR.
Stay Hilton downtown BR.
Shuttle from Past Times or hotel before and after game.
Tailgate as mentioned above.
Have fun.

I mean that’s on him to handle how much he drinks. But in terms of parking/walking around/tailgating, that’s my advice to him.

Especially since there’s a chance that’s a day game anyway

Don’t venture onto the streets named after Native American tribes and dead presidents.

Exactly. Rough part of town just north of campus.

BR will be convenient to fly into, but NOLA will be cheaper for flights and hotels.

Fans should be hospitable at any tailgate. We like to feed ya, friend or foe!

If you go the hotel route, check out the Watermark in DT BR. One of my favorite places to stay while visiting BR for a home game. It’s a short UBER/LYFT ride to the stadium on Nicholson. Leave way early to avoid the traffic and don’t attempt to walk through the bottom from DT.
