Question regarding defense on Trin's td run.

On Trinidad's td run in the fourth quarter.......... our right defensive end crashed down and obviously was out of the play his first step. Is that a defensive play call for him to crash down or was that his decision? IDK defensive schemes. Obviously it left the entire left side of the field open for Trinidad. Maybe a linebacker was suppose to cover the outside?

No way to know for sure. Might have been guessing run inside and was going to blow it up. Ole Miss just had the perfect play call

He got a down block so he is supposed to squeeze. The guy walked down was actually a safety lined up at edge. Benefield hesitated. He’s the over after the motion he has to force Chambliss back inside. Cooley should have been the alley guy but his eyes were in a bad spot.

If you go back to earlier in the game we always had the end/edge crash down and had a linebacker or safety scraping behind to take the QB. Whit tackled Chambliss for loss on a similar play. This time it was Ty but he took a bad angle. If he took a better angle is a big loss or worst case a short gain but he took a bad angle and Ty didn't have the speed to make it up.

He got caught guessing. Loaded heavy on the right side and seemingly going that way. But oops, TC slipped out the edge and was not in danger of getting caught.

Lane said that was not been Benefield play to make he ran to where he was supposed to for run defense. So I'm assuming the edge guy has to contain the quarterback and maybe not crash down like that so I would assume he would be the guy to contain the QB
