The no stripes on the jerseys were because they wore Tear Away jerseys...basically T-Shirts. Guess it was too expensive to have 20 Charles Alexander #4 jerseys with stripes.

The Auburn game I remember was in 72 at night. Jones and Hamilton dominated Auburn. It was Auburns only loss that season. When LSU scored on the first play of the game was in 69. I was at both games. The 72 game was at night and the 69 game was during the day.

Tiger Stadium looks strange without the upper decks.

Damnstrong, I believe this may be the best response to a question on The Rant I've ever seen. The cheerleaders, Saban's head in lieu of a cow turd....a classic!

The Alabama at LSU game in 1977 was the first day game in Tiger Stadium since the Tigers hosted Auburn for Homecoming, in 1969.

Wasn't the Nebraska game a day game?

The 1976 Nebraska game at Tiger Stadium (6-6 tie) was definitely a night game. The year before, the game in Lincoln was a day game, but not the famous 6-6 tie in Baton Rouge.

There were no day games from Auburn (1969) until Bama (1977). The most important game during that stretch was the 1973 game on Thanksgiving night against Alabama. Both teams were unbeaten. I recall the game starting at an unusual time ... around 5:45 or 6 p.m. ... still a night game and one of the most disappointing of the McClendon era.

The Auburn game in 1972 and the Nebraska game in 1976 weren't even nationally or regionally televised. ABC had one or sometimes 2 games on Saturdays and that was it.

The game might have ended in the evening but I got a sunburn on the east side in 73.

Not at the 1973 Alabama-LSU football game in November you didn't. With a kickoff after 7 pm in late November any sunburn you received happened somewhere other than Tiger Stadium.
