Wade said he might be available tomorrow. He was out of his boot on Wednesday.

He’s hurt. He’s who I hope would be an answer to the Castleton’s of the world. He’s obviously not gonna be able to deal with thicker centers but I think he might matchup well with the long lanky tall guys like that punching bag from Florida.

Good, I was hoping that it was an injury(obviously not glad he was hurt). I'd like to see him succeed at his dads Alma Mater. Hopefully he will play well.

Now look, if your expectations are for him to be his dad then you’re gonna be disappointed. He’s a nice player with a pretty good skill set but he’s more of a stretch 4 than a banger. I don’t think he’ll ever be more than a good solid starter like Emmitt Williams or Darius Days. But that’s ok, we need good solid starters.

I am fine with that. I am not expecting him to be Shaq obviously.

His ceiling is Aaron Epps. I’d take that right now.

My expectations are not overly high on him. It would help
us dramatically if he could be somewhere close to KBW
and at least keep the other team honest down low.

Wade has shown the ability to develop big men and they get better
and more physical every year

You probably need to change your expectations or you will be disappointed. He's not the kind of player that KBW was.

As others have pointed out, and Wade mentioned previously, he's more of an Aaron Epps type player right now. He can rebound. He can score some inside. But he's more of an "in space" player vs. an inside presence like KBW. KBW was very athletic for his size, but he didn't have much offensive game outside of dunks and putbacks. O'Neal does.

For this team I think the expectation of him is to be a guy who can be somewhat of a defensive presence inside (though he isn't a "shot blocker); a contributing rebounder, and a guy who can knock down an open shot from outside if the defense decides to not guard him. Think maybe a bigger version of what Wilkinson is being asked to do.

Hell the kids been fine, not sure what people expect sometimes.
He didn't play BBall for nearly 2 years because of the heart issue. So it will take him some time.

He's no world beater yet, but he will provide some minutes and a few rebs and he can shoot it ok. Plus he does provide some length which is something we lack.

I would personally be absolutely thrilled if O'Neal developed into a Days or Williams level players. He definitely has talent and should help the squad when he gets back.

I'll be happy if he can stay healthy. He seems to be handicapped because of health problems. He has great potential but he will never reach it if he can't stay healthy.

Absolutely.

If you look at the advanced metrics Days is currently LSU's most impactful player in terms of win-share and he is leading the SEC in many major advanced offensive categories. He gets overlooked because Thomas, Watford and Smart are putting up better raw numbers, but Days is arguably the glue quietly holding the great offense together. For a team that is the most efficient offense in the SEC and one of the most efficient in the country, Days is THE most efficient player of the group.

He's not just a "solid" starter. If there were a version of pro football focus for college basketball Days would be a a first team all SEC player. He's been THAT good this year.

Days has absolutely made himself into one of the best.
He always had the skills but was a fouling machine and could never stay in the game. Now he has learned to control his over aggressiveness.

He doesn't have near the fire of Days/Williams. He plays timidly which is the polar opposite of the other two. To the original question...unfortunately both are true right now. Until he gets more aggressive, he'll never make a mark on this team. We don't need another 6'9" guy hanging out behind the 3pt line. If this weren't Shaq's kid, he would get about as much discussion on here as Josh Gray.

At one point in the last game, I think Days had three offensive rebounds in a row and put two of them back for baskets. He for sure is the only one on the team doing that.

Idk about that Shareef still was getting into the swing of things when he got hurt, offensively he wasn't much of an impact but again he doesn't have to be.

He is a solid rebounder and on one of the worst defensive rebounding team in the conference that is a big help.

He definitely would have helped in the Florida game against the big dork that lit us up.

Actually, it’s perfect for this offense. Wade’s goal is to spread the floor and create driving lanes. His defense is the question mark. If he’s not altering/blocking shots, then his height is kind of wasted.
