Id' bet $100 Mahtook could beat Leon to 1st base. Landry is not really that fast.

he may be faster, but there is a difference between being fast and being quick and quickness is what allows you to run down those gap balls. i know he hasn't been out there too long, but i've yet to see him make the plays leon made last year.

Leon's "big plays" were often over dramatic. He missed several catches trying to time a dive and shite instead of just catching it.

I have yet to see leon make any of those plays he made last year. This year I HAVE however seen him misplay a lot of balls and dive for a few with nobody behind him only to fall 3 feet short. Last year Leon = star This year = avg in the field and way below avg at the plate.

I was told the reason for the insertion of Nola into the lineup was to add another right handed batter to face the predominantly left handed pitchers of the upcoming SEC schedule. PM wasn't going to take Schimpf out, so the switch was made.

i didn't make that assumption at all, but it's annoying when people try to act like they know everything which is why I try to stay off this thing. There is no way that Mahtook's speed is that much better than Leon's. And yes, I've seen Leon try to make those diving catches and miss, but I've yet to see that kind of body sacrifice from Mahtook, that is all.

Landry is a better baserunner

I dont think Landry is a very good baserunner. 8 for 14 stealing aint exactly getting it done

He knows his limits.

For whatever reason Landry takes virtually no lead off at first and hasnt gotten great jumps. This accounts him getting caught. Watch the leads that Jared takes vs Landry and you would see what Im talking about. I think Leon lost a lot of confidence and its apparent when he takes his lead. At the beginning of the season he took a bigger risk with his lead.

but don't get me wrong, I love both of them in center...I just don't see that big of a difference between the two in fielding. Hitting is a whole different story though.
