This still has to be the biggest upset of all time in the
LSU-Bama series. Bama coming off a NC in 92
and riding a 20 game winning streak at home against
a 3-5 LSU team in the midst of “the dark period” with
Curley Haulmen. The only stat I looked for and could
not find was the betting lines for the game. Does anybody
Remember what the point spread was?

Only time since I’ve been an LSU fan I was disappointed with a win. I knew it would give us another year of Curley.

As I remember correctly their starting quarterback was out. I believe it was Jay Barker. Backup was Brian Burgdorf. Could have been 30 but that's awfully high without your starting quarterback. David Palmer came in at QB second half and almost pulled it out.

One of the local radio guys said it was 20+.

Maybe 24 if I recall correctly.

It wasn’t 30.

Correct he was and they had next to nothing throwing the ball. They put deuce Palmer at QB in the fourth and he gave them a spark but Jay Johnson and our run game couldn’t be stopped. Our QB was pulled also and Chad Loup ended up playing most of the game for us.

It was all around a horribly played game especially by Bama. I was there with my Dad. I was eight and we argued about going. (We had seen a lot of LSU getting arse kicked as my dad and his dad were both season ticket holders) I wanted to go so we went and I will never forget it. David Palmer was the only offense they had. When he came in at QB he couldn't throw but made some wild runs with his legs. Had Alabama started the deuce we may have had a different result. I'm trying to decide which game in T-Town I enjoyed more... The day the pigs flew or Josh Reed winning the Biletnikoff in one game up there. Both are priceless. Both I can say I was there!
