"You're the starter, Danny. Go stand over there."

Just curious as to why you hope he wins the job when he doesn't really have anything to show for it. Do you want McMillan to win the job too?

This board really is so predictable, we could have Reggie Ball as our backup and people would be claiming Miles was prejudice against him and is holding the team back from an NCAA all star in Reggie Ball

Right its so damn obvious. Everyone wanted Harris and now they got him. Why start the fuss all over again.

You misunderstood. I am asking why you would hope Etling is better than Harris rather than hope the guy who started last year would be better. Instead of focusing on the backup try realizing that Harris could make leaps this year.

People are starved for good QB's and decent depth. If something happens to Harris it's nice to know McMillan or Etling could step up

HOW DO YOU FIGURE HE IS BETTER IS THE QUESTION. How much of him have you seen. And don't say the purdue highlights.

That's not what I said. I asked why you WANT Etling to win the job. Why not Harris? And why does it matter? I want the best QB to win but forgive me for wanting to see a guy flourish who has already been a starter for LSU. God knows we don't need another starter losing the job to a backup. I'd like to see Harris develop more than any other scenario and you should too.

I'm dumbfounded that I feel like I have to even say any of this

Because people on this board have this weird complex where they think every other teams QBs never make mistakes, and that if one QB makes a mistake then he must be a complete waste of time and we need to try out the other one after a series

People wanted Zach Mett benched for Rivers in 2012. Mett was a ruined QB who was never going to get better and miles was a joke for continuing to stick with him all season. Why cant rivers get a shot?? His brother is a pro QB and he's tall! What could it hurt!

bro Rivers went 64/67 on his pro day with no pads, DBs or pass rush!

The reason people inside the program are saying there IS a QB competition is because Etling has been more accurate than Harris despite not having the zip Harris has...

Thats all well and good, but how does he throw the 40 yard go route. Thats all that matters.

Also how many years does Ettling have... because thats how many heismans he will win.

Am I doing this right by the way?

It's the people here dismissing Etling like BH is the second coming that is aggravating. Sure I want BH to succeed but his play to this point hasn't been awe inspiring

Both have the potential to be great QB's here at LSU. People want to dismiss Harris because he didn't light the world on fire a sophomore. If he can stay healthy I have full confidence that Brandon Harris is our guy. Last season BH was playing through a sports hernia injury, but at that point an injured Harris was better than any backup we had. If Harris gets nicked this year (which in Les speak could be anything from a hangnail to a broken leg) I have full confidence in bringing in Etling.

Why is so bad to root for both QBs? God forbid our offense be hand-tied to one QB if he gets injured or suspended for some reason because we have no faith in our back up to complete a forward pass like we have been in the past.

This board is becoming very apparently racist...and I have heard things from LSU fans in person that sadly echo that sentiment. Danny Etling is white, and the rest of what we know about him is that he was terrible and benched at PURDUE for another terrible quarterback. Harris has a repertoire with the current set of WR's, the OC has been there with him since day 1....but no, lets have the former back-up QB from Purdue take his spot.....

This is sad. Why anyone wants Harris to fail is beyond me, but then again...its pretty transparent what the motive is for those who keep up this Etling campaign...

Harris is even more true to LSU coming to LSU as a freshman, a Louisiana native, and you folks want some transfer to take over just because of a few rumors from practice that no one can objectively say are true or not? GMAFB.

Ridiculous.

Well, when you get the whole "Harris had his chance and he was HORRIBLE" to precede "Etling is so accurate, and having great practices" rooting for both QB's goes out of the window.

Don't trash Harris to support Etling and things will be better.

And besides random hearsay practice rumors, what has Etling done in an actual game that makes him such a viable candidate to start for LSU?

That's fine and I understand the sentiment, and agree. But you said you hoped Etling would win the job, and I don't see how that helps LSU in terms of perception of QB development. Obviously Harris making a leap (he's a junior) would be the most ideal scenario.

Being more accurate than BH is not an impressive or difficult feat.
