That's what I thought at first, then I downloaded it and that is a very professional spreadsheet. Must be true.

I thought the SEC conf. rules state that everyone has to play everyone else in there side of the conf.....
It's a NCAA rule so unless Miss State is put in a different division we are playing them.
From the NCAA Rulebook:
quote:
17.9.5.2 Annual Exemptions. [FBS/FCS] The maximum number of football contests shall exclude the following:
(Revised: 10/28/10)
(C) Twelve-Member Conference Championship Game. [FBS/FCS] A conference championship game
between division champions of a member conference of 12 or more institutions that is divided into two
divisions (of six or more institutions each), each of which conducts round-robin, regular-season competition
among the members of that division;

The permanent games will continue as long as Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn are all in opposite divisions.
They'd have to go to a 9-game schedule. A lot of the other 12-team conferences are doing it.

Why not play A&M instead of Towson? Still can't believe they scheduled Towson! Who the frick are they! Unless they were they ONLY team that had an open date, that is just plain ridiculous.

Anyone know who Christian Lundy is? He's listed as the author of that file.

No way we lose MSU from the schedule and keep 2 games from the East.
Agreed. Makes no sense.

LSU and FLorida athletic departments both lobbying for permanent removal of the annual rivalry game.
And I don't blame either organization. I don't mind playing every team in the division - that's part of the deal. I don't mind rotating all the cross-division rivals, as long as everybody else does - that's fair. But to hang us with Florida for 20 freakin' years (and lately, they may feel the same way about us) - seems blatantly unfair when others in the West get to play Vandy or Kentucky every year (and E teams get to play Ole Miss or Miss State every year).

Why would the SEC schedule games so they have to ask for something there is a possibility that wouldn't be granted?

why wouldnt it be granted? if the mac can get one for having 13 what grounds would the ncaa have in not granting the same to the sec.
makes no sense

Doubt many Big 12 schools are a big fan of the SEC right now, nor the Big East or ACC which could be raided for SEC team #14.
Its not a given they'd get waiver (probable but not absolute given)and why would the SEC put itself in a subservient position unless it really had no other choice, which it does.
I see a 14th Team by 2012 or legislation to modify the rule before the SEC puts itself in a position of asking for anything from other schools.

They will most likely add a 14th team soon, but if not I would be a big supporter of moving Auburn to the east division and kicking Vandy out of the SEC...problem solved.

If you open the file and look at it, it is clearly a fabrication of what one person, who has no say in the scheduling, thinks would happen if we stay at 13 teams. Anyone buying in to it even being provisional has been duped.

what does any of this have to do with the ncaa granting a waiver?
hell the head of the ncaa was head of lsu when i was there, hes not going to screw the sec over.
besides, it did say "provisional" you know
