Proud of LSU and proud of Louisiana for refusing to be bullied by the SEC!

The SEC waited until LSU gained a competitive advantage through the courts, then rushed through new rules and massive penalties to stop it. Now, after being restrained by a Louisiana judge, the conference is suing LSU in federal court and calling it a First Amendment fight.
The SEC’s federal lawsuit is a weak attempt at intimidation dressed up to look like it has teeth. If it has you feeling pressured, nervous or ready to back down, then it’s working exactly as intended.
Let’s be clear: LSU didn’t break the rules. LSU challenged them and won temporary relief. The SEC isn’t afraid of unfairness. It’s afraid LSU just showed every member school that the conference can be challenged.
Lane Kiffin was ahead of the curve. LSU defended the student athletes. Louisiana stood its ground.
The SEC picked the wrong founding member and the wrong state. Never forget that Louisiana built Tiger Stadium under Huey P. Long. Standing up to power is literally in our foundation.

Not to be cliche but this and all the pushback from CFB fans just screams fear IMO.
A fear that started as soon as Lane took this job but has since amplified after an incredible offseason of roster building.

It's crazy to think that not very long ago, LSU was a submissive bitch under Woodward's watch. Now LSU is an alpha that will not be bullied, as it should be.

• Every student athlete should know that LSU will stand up for them, even when doing so requires challenging the most powerful conference in college sports.
• If LSU is willing to fight for a backup player, it proves that the program values every athlete, not just its stars.

The whole premise of amateur sports is intellectually dishonest. At least for football, basketball and (to a lesser degree) baseball. We all have to adjust our mindset because the entire landscape of college sports is drastically different now.

I think this has gone beyond a couple of players being able to play. It’s uncovered an inequality in the way that the SEC and NCAA passes and treats rules. The KDS runs deep in many of these corporate suits that call what they do “leadership”. I don’t know what the outcome will be, but I’m proud of the folks involved for standing their ground.

That isn’t asking for sympathy. That is telling every athlete in America: if you wear the purple and gold, LSU will fight for you, whether you’re a superstar or the last man on the depth chart.
Call it crazy if you want. In Louisiana, we call it having a backbone.
