Use him more. We need an X factor in the passing game.

agree, anything to get those LB's looking away from Durham...if he ever gets a crease and a LB is one step going the wrong way, Durham can house it, and we need more big runs in our running game going forward. That eye diversion could be a key component for that.

He had 40+ snaps this past game

He'll start to have more of an impact if he's this involved. His catch radius is insane.

You make attempts to diminish Nussmeier at every angle.
You tried to devalue the touchdowns that weren't high in vertical air yards. (To reiterate, red zone TDs are very positive plays, especially when an offense struggles at times to get 6 in the red zone.) I told you those 6-point passes inside the 5 obviously bring down the YPA, which you're now trying to use as another angle, but it doesn't matter. The goal is to get the 6. If a RB gets some TDs from the 1, that's obviously not good for the YPA, but in those game scenarios, the YPA stat is irrelevant. Statistics don't give you a full story, or a full indication of value sometimes.
And how about the deep ball in the end zone that was right on CJ Daniels in the first quarter?
Pass interference on Jaheim Singletary. 15 yards and a first down. Unaccounted for in the stats. Same for the deep pass that was right on Kyren Lacy against South Carolina. Pass interference on Emmanwori.
With your fixation on deep passes, you should realize you need to account for those positive (hidden) yards that aren't accounted for in box score statistics. And give credit for those on-target passes that force defenders into penalties.

Now do Jayden and Burrow in their first seasons with LSU. I wouldn't be surprised if Nuss is ahead of the curve on his long throws, compared to those two

Nope, just posted facts. You can interpret them how you will.

There isn’t a stat or metric that proves Nussmeier has been good down the field.

Yes his YPA is better than both JD5 and Burrow in their first year starting here. It’s actually 3rd alltime for any LSU first year starter.

That's what you were attempting to do. It's obvious.

He has been a bit long on some of the deep passes. If Thomas Jr., or a deep speed guy is on the other end of those, they probably result in 6.
When it's Lacy, the placement has to be in a different spot to connect. That's not a knock on Lacy, but he's just not that type of deep vertical guy.
Did you add the PI penalties to your "metrics" yet?

Remember, you're talking about a guy with 8 career starts. Sometimes it takes years for QBs to refine their overall game.

Nussmeier cannot get them the ball.

Yea, he needs to clean up the overthrows and the OOB throws.

Last season against aTm, we ran 14 personnel, one RB and 4 TE's. Kelly likes this option. You've seen Bo Bordelon with the #89 jersey, playing the TE position. Kelly and Sloan wants this within their offense. Green will learn to block, look at Taylor now. Everywhere Kelly's been, he's put an emphasis on the position.

In Kelly's short time at ND, he had 8 TE's drafted into the NFL. To find 8 TE's drafted from LSU, you'd have to start in 1990, till present day.

If you look at Durham's two short yardage TD's, we ran 14 personnel. Durham and 4 TE's. Pimp, Bordelon, Taylor and (WalkOn) #45 GiVanni Peterson.

Kelly has two commitments in the 2025 Class. I don't think Kelly is finished with recruiting this position. Taylor looks to be heading to the Pros and Bordelon back to the OL. With the increase in Scholarship Rosters, another good TE comes along?

That’s a new one. So it’s ok to over throw the open guy because he should be faster?

I literally said that the ball placement had to be not as deep when it's Lacy. But at the same time, you have to realize that receivers with elite speed and or jump ball skills make plays for QBs on deep balls.
Let me know when you start doing your PI calculations.

Who had a better first 8 starts for LSU and did you trash the guys who haven’t the way you do Nuss?

You can do your own PI calculations. You will just make up shitty excuses if I do so.

C'mon, Lester. You avoid the actual substance of the post, and go for that? You realize when guys throw that into a conversation, apropos of nothing
that's being talked about, it shows what they really have on their minds. PT is more the spot for that kind of projection.

Open WRs should not have to worry about being “fast enough” or having to win jump balls. They are open. Its the QBs job to get the ball to open WRs and calibrate the passes to their abilities. Not sure what you want addressed.

So that’s a nobody and a no. Don’t get mad at me because you’re a hypocrite. Nobody’s fault but your own.

It’s disingenuous to say that not having a real speed threat is not affecting deep ball accuracy. There are clearly some guys who can out run any ball you throw up. We happened to have 2 of those last year. Does Nuss need to be better on the deep ball? Absolutely. Is he as bad as you’re trying to make him on the deep ball? No

But Lester, cmon we clearly don’t have the deep ball guy in the lineup right now unless T Green can become that guy over the next couple weeks.

2 things can be true at once. Nuss needs to improve the deep ball, and we don’t have a down field speed threat at the moment.

Your not being honest if you are ignoring one side or the other in this argument.

There isn’t a legitimate excuse to missing throws to open WRs downfield.
