How does it hurt the team in the long run? First I’ve heard of that. People had been saying in the short run because he’s a “needed” player on the field. Explain how it hurts us in May.

IMO, it's dumb because it's the senior leader on your team getting thrown out of a game doing something he knows he will get thrown out for.
I agree with all of your other points, up to him flipping the pitcher off. He can still say "frick you" in a lot of other ways that don't get you kicked out of the game. shite, the hit right back up the middle is a big frick you as it is.

If he does it 20 times in a season, it hurts us in the long run having him miss time.
