So not the greatest?
And Shaq was better.
And Shaq was better.

Quickest dribble between the legs then pop a 3 ...I've ever seen

Shaq was better than Chris Jackson? Surely you jest. Not in this lifetime.

I agree 100%-- but in fairness, it was between the legs and then behind the back. If you missed the 2nd part, shows how quick it was!!!!

He's my favorite LSU Basketball player of all time.
I started watching in 1987.

I was at that game. Lots of amazing plays by both teams.
Jackson had as I recall 28 points at the half. He sort of disappeared for the first 10 minutes of the second half and Texas worked their way back to being within single digits. During a timeout, you could see Dale Brown tell Jackson to "take over" and he scored 23 points in the last 10 minutes.
Despite that, you could also tell that the best pro prospect was a 17 year old Shaq. He was clearly very raw but his physical attributes were incredible. There's a put-back dunk in that game that is one of the more athletic plays I've ever witnessed.

At LSU? Yes, he was better.

Using queue is acceptable.

Respectfully disagree. Shaq was better in NBA. Chris Jackson was better in college. Imho.

53 against Florida as a freshman as his first SEC game

Yes, but if you need more, please see:
1988 @ UF
1989 @ Ole Miss
1989 vs. Vandy
1990 @ Tennessee
1990 @ Vanderbilt
He poured in 40 plus in all but one of those games and 50 plus in 2 of them. He averaged 30 ppg in 1989 -- 2nd only to Hank Gathers; he was 6 feet (WAS NOT 6'1") and maybe 165 pounds. Pound for pound, inch for inch, he was the best of that era, at least.
Kendall Gill, who played Jackson this time 28 years ago, also played him in pic-up games. Gill, A Chicago native, had played against Michael Jordan during the summers. He is quoted as saying Jackson had a quicker off-step and dribble.
CJ was a phenom until the tourney his final year. Obviously, agents had gotten a hold of him and his play just sucked in those 2 games...13 in both, I believe.
But, he is the BEST since Pete. Steph Curry is NOT better. Jackson faded into obscurity (changed his name and religion and likely everything else) and people just forgot him. Then, Curry and the like come along and get recognition like none other. Rumeal Robinson, Sherman Douglas, Literial Green, Tim Hardaway, Kendall Gill, Gary Payton, and Greg Anthony were all GREAT. Jackson was better than all of them and he played in their era.

Shaq had a longer career and his presence was always loud. He smiled and clowned; CJ smiled maybe twice that I recall. Shaq was an aloof, Bull in a China closet, somewhat disengaged teen in his first season -- at least the first half of it. He had some great games -- Loyola Mmt, Texas, GA Tech in the tourney -- but Jesus did he foul like a son of a bitch. And the SEC had the 6 foul rule in 1990! His usual line was about 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks in 1990. He, of course, would go 4 for 12 from the FT line.
Shaq's coming out party was December of '90 vs. Arizona where he dominated all THREE of their big men. It helped that Chris Mills couldn't hit bucket one of the Grand Prize game. Nonetheless, LSU won and Shaq's full length court dribble and dunk set the stage for a lot of great moments he would have.
Shaq would have moments that were not pretty against the likes of Alec Kessler and Christian Laettner. Shaq was 7 feet 1 and was otherwise unstoppable -- most teams didn't have 7 footers. Auburn's Matt Geiger even made him look bad in the SEC Tourney his freshman year. I recall the GT tourney game and the Yellowjackets having no inside game at all. Shaq (and Stanley) absolutely dominated. Point being, without a 7 footer of your own, you did not stand a chance at taking on Shaq. Jamal Mashburn, et al, was a tall, big dude...Larry Johnson...Melvin Cheatum...Carlus Groves...they were great in games that Shaq was not a part of. Well, LJ schooled the hell out of Wayne Simms, but he was dominated by Shaq (in the Super Bowl Sunday '90 game).
Just too bad as bad arse as he was, LSU could not win a c'ship.
Nor could they with CJ. WHo was better at LSU, though? I do not know how you can compare. Who was the biggest game changer? I think they both were. Shaq could block 12 shots...CJ could hit 12 shots in a row.
I love them both, but CJ, pound for pound, was better than O'Neal....most of the time. When Kareem, Walton, and co. got Shaq to learn a hook shot and a jump step fade away, then he became pretty unbeatable. Still, give me CJ and his crossover killer.

CJ was Steph Curry before Steph Curry
Islam messed him up, especially since it was during a time when the NBA was far less "politically correct".
