They might fall to #3 if that...they probably would have been behind USC even w/o this.

Coaches voted before Silas Redd transferred to USC and the difference between the top 3 was so small.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if LSU was #1.

Media isn't taking this news as anything that damaging.

Example, CFN regarding the dismissal:

Nothing stops. LSU should still win the national title.

Not upset at all.

But if you actually don't think a single member of the media will move us down a spot or two after losing a Heisman finalist leaving us with an even younger and more inexperienced secondary, it makes me roll my eyes. I already posted that Hebstreit has already said he's moving them down in his rankings. Hence the

yes, you are correct, but the rankings are probably based on 22 players.

so, i think the hit is 1/22 not 1/11.

and, we are already hearing great things about the freshmen backup.

The media is full of idiots, so I guess you could be right.

That makes me roll my eyes. Chavis has already said that this will be the best secondary that we've had, so I don't think losing one of the worst cover guys will hurt all that much.

Well, there you go, idiot #1.

This - it's preseason, who cares about standings when a down of football has yet to be played.

rankings matter twice - when 1 and 2 are selected for the BCS Championship Game AND following the BCS Championship Game.

I cannot imagine that we are not AP preseason Top 5, but I couldn't care less.

Best of luck to #7 - get your head straight young man

AP was always going to rank FUSC #1 regardless. We'll be #2.

Does anyone here actually want to begin the season ranked #1? All it does is add unneeded pressure. If we win out, we're in the BCSNCG...so why not start out somewhere comfortable like 3?

99% of TD posters didn't think he was a distraction 2 days ago or a few weeks back when I said Tyrann wouldn't make it through the season.

Maybe we should just forfeit the season! Or better yet, cancel the football program all together? We lost our starting QB last year before the season, and when he did return, placed much more pressure on Chavis' defense than losing TM. This is a PROGRAM! Come on brother, our schedule compared to last, cake....

Good. Let SC have that giant target on their back for the first half of the season.

if LSU wins the SEC it wont matter
