Good. We don’t deserve any respect. I hope more and more come out like this. Give our guys something to chew on for the next 5 months.

We haven’t named a starting QB.
Corner depth is extremely worrisome.
We have safeties but the quality at that position is questionable.
We don’t have a starting SEC caliber pass catching and blocking TE.
OL questions won’t be answered until we get into SEC play.

This team has a lot of holes.

11 might be a little low but it’s not far off. Mississippi State, USCe and Tennessee are too high.

This is a 7-5 team right now.

Most schools don't and I don't see why LSU has to limit itself offensively because they lack the personnel at that position. This is exactly what killed the LSU offense under Miles, this stubbornness to play one particular style no matter what personnel you have on your team and regardless of ability/depth.

If LSU is deepest at WR then they need to put more WR on the field, if they're deepest at TE then put out more TE formations. But don't force a bad TE on the offense just because "that's the way I've played".

I know everyone is all on board with Kelly and his tendency to have TEs, but have to play to what your personnel is or the whole team is going to be limited by one position, which is stupid.

If LSU wins 50-25, with the receivers carrying the load, why does anyone care? Play to win the game.

That's was Les used to do, no matter how much talent at WR or QB he'd pound the ball into the ground every single year and the offense was limited and underperformed every year.

I actually like that. Let us finally fly under the radar as opposed to having high expectations and then falling on our face like the last two seasons.

I agree. When you have TE's that are just good at blocking or just pass catching you have to change up what you do. The problem with this it telegraphs your play calling based on personal and makes it easier for the defense to match up.

For example in goal line situations if you bring in a tackle eligible o-lineman into the TE position. The problem with this is the LB is playing run because the tackle eligible offensive lineman is slow enough if he does go on a passing route the LB can recover quickly enough after leaning hard pre-snap on the run.

In most situations LSU is talented enough to just line up an beat the guy across from them so when the tackle eligible guy comes in and the offense wins the battle the play works. The issue comes in when we face teams with defenses where the talent is the same or better and we can't just line up and beat them one on one.

A true TE that can block and catch keeps the defense honest.

Maybe. But you have to compare LSU to the rest of their schedule.

The road games are Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, A&M. Is it out of the realm of possibility LSU could win 1-2 of those? No one had a more tumultuous offseason than Auburn. Florida is basically in the same boat as LSU. Arkansas is ascending. But they aren't sneaking up on anyone this year. A&M looks really good on paper. But Jimbo has yet to be great over there.

LSU's home games are Ole Miss, Miss. St, Tennessee and Alabama. Other than Alabama are any of those teams significantly better than LSU (if at all)? Can LSU go 3-1 among that group? I think so.

The fulcrum game will be against FSU. They have been down for a while now and the game will be de facto home game for LSU. Win that one, then 8-4 would be a reasonable O/U.

I think people underestimate just how poor a coach Ed Orgeron was. The moment he got the chance to truly mettle in the gameplay/approach is the exact moment LSU went to shite. Prior to 2020 he had to stay out of the way and be the clapping monkey that he's always been. Aranda fully controlled the defense and Ed had to let the offensive coaches have full control because he knows nothing about that side of the ball. Once Aranda left he finally had the chance to implement his fan-fiction early 00's USC/early 90's Miami defensive approach. LSU immediately went from one of the better defenses over the last 20 years to among the worst in college football. The next season LSU stayed with Ed's shitty overall approach (despite a new DC) until it ultimately got him fired. "Shockingly" with nothing to lose LSU abandoned O's terrible approach vs. Alabama and suddenly became one of the best defenses in the country in the last 3/4 weeks of the season.

Is this a national championship caliber roster? No. But it isn't bad compared to every other SEC team not named Alabama, Georgia and (maybe) Texas A&M. And this year the on field approach won't be dictated by a guy who should have always remained a DL coach (at best)

No doubt major roster issues and just hope for a winning record and a bowl game.
FSU took BK to OT last year at ND so season opener may be a big time eye opener too.
