Leaving campus north of Highland, Dalrymple near U High is widening already. Road and sidewalk now touching (no longer grass between the two. Not sure how they would he able to do more with the roundabout but I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to widen it through there. The widening project at the I-10/Dalrymple Exit already has the retaining wall built up.

Inb4 it'll never be ready in time

Westbound Dalyrmple exit looks like it will swoop down over the lake instead of the loop they have now.

Have they had actual contraflow on Dalrymple in the past?

I’m picturing the clusterfrick of trying to get people to go both ways around the traffic circle and I imagine it to be hilarious.

Will there be an eastbound ramp at Dalrymple as part of this project? I've only been waiting for that since my freshman year in 1984.

There’s no escaping postgame traffic. It’s just something you have to come to terms with when you attend a game.

Unless they widen the roundabout then all this does is create a bottleneck at the point where traffic from W Lakeshore and the U-High parking lot also feed in

This. Contraflow Dalrymple with left lane going I-10W and right lane going I-10E. Can’t believe this isn’t part of the construction project.

They've contraflowed Dalrymple for the past decade...where have you been?

Good to hear. That's the way I exit. Traffic moves very very slow until U-High. Moves quickly after the Sigma Chi roundabout, so hopefully this helps!

.. on the other side of campus, where I live?

That’s why I asked.

Even longer than that. Have had a tailgate set up since 2000 and there was contraflow back then.

For the life of me, I cannot see how this project will benefit what?

The main problem is the fricking bridge....in both directions! And this has not been addressed, or at least I can't see it.

Shed some light if you have any.

It will be a major improvement for folks coming EB across the bridge. They’ll have two full travel lanes continuing into I-10 from the bridge instead of one travel lane and an exit-only lane to Washington Street. That alone will make a huge difference eastbound.

In both directions, I would argue that the bigger improvement over the added lane will be fixing the shitty design of the interstate between the bridge and Acadian. Currently there are no shoulders on the lake bridges, and the road surface is pretty jacked up which both contribute to congestion.

Worse, there are no acceleration/deceleration lanes at the exits & on-ramps over that stretch. So cars coming onto the interstate jump directly into interstate traffic from a curve while cars exiting do the opposite. This will be fixed. Another major upgrade.

And then there’s the added bonus of an extra travel lane in each direction, but I actually think that’s the least impactful part of this.

The rant can't comprehend that 50,000 cars exiting the same location at one time will be a cluster frick no matter what you do.

The game traffic really puts a huge damper on the game day experience....and based on the current road system, it really cannot be fixed. Too many 1-2 lane roads and the campus is bordered by the river....
