i think faulk has proven his abilities at receiving in the NFL
The title of the original post was best ever AT lsu. Has nothing to do with their pro careers, but since you're tossing that out there. Hilliard has more career rushing yards than Faulk and had his career shortened by injuries. I'd take Dalton's 1,200+ yards rushing and 18td's in '89 over any year Faulk put up with the Pats.
Both guys were great at LSU, I just remember Dalton having huge games against stiffer competition. Most of Faulk's big games didn't occur against quality SEC opponents. JMO.

I would have lean towards Hilliard (although Faulk was great too). But if you seriously want to use their NFL careers to try and make a case for one or the other Dalton Hillard runs away with it! Hillard was a terrific NFL back and I believe until Deuce broke it recently was the all time leading rushed for the Saints and just a work horse for them. Faulk may have 3 super bowl wins but he was neverthe focus of NE's offense and really was used more as a 3rd down back than anything else.
All that being said Charles Alexander is the best RB of all the ones mentioned IMO ....

i'm not using the NFL career to judge their respective impact at LSU, just showing that when given the chance, faulk was a great receiver. you can't just look at volume stats, b/c that doesn't take opportunity into account

This is always silly, as the younger posters don't know any thing about the great players of the past. The op asked about the best EVER at LSU, not the best YOU HAVE SEEN PLAY ! Just because a guy played in the 60's or 70's doesn't mean he couldn't play today.

No one has mentioned Ken Kavanaugh at WR

Cannon and Taylor hard to keep off the team.
Terry Robiskie
Hard for him not to be mentioned
Some others worthy of mention, not there. AJ Duhe, Eric Martin, Doug Moreau,
I'd be YA or Bert Jones as QB.
Mike Miley was also a tremendous all around player.
