A few facts
1) yes it is against any policy at any college sport when coaches are involved with players
2) Pokey sued and it was settled out of court for a small fraction of her salary
3) She betrayed the trust of her players, fans and LSU numerous times and never apologized or took ownership
4) She won a ton of games and recruited two of best players in WBB here
5) She is deeply flawed in some ways

Rumors that may/may not be true
1) She caused more than 4 players to transfer due to her pressuring them to be with her'
2) She benched a starter in favor of a "friend" who had not started in 6+ games in a FF game and we lost
3) She had her current and long time gf (another assistant coach) quit after talking a future all sec player into leaving LSU for another school after pokey left

if you do not like WBB fine, but if you do and support LSU you know that Pokey helped build and then destroyed through her selfish acts a top 5 program. No excuses for her actions and lack of ownership....

She wasn't fired. She resigned. She would have been fired if she hadn't resigned, though.

Assuming the rumors were correct, LSU had no choice but to ask her to go or fire her. Her assistant coach turned her in for inappropriate relationships with players. Allowing her to resign gave her an opportunity to save face and would have worked had there not been so much media attention. She also got a lawyer who spoke out a bit, if I recall, because she wanted more money on her contract payout, but she didn't get it.

Coaches cannot have inappropriate relationships with players, period.

I don't think I watched 5 minutes of any game during that run of final 4s. I don't see how anyone can get into women's hoops, its just awful to watch. Then again our men's team makes it tough to watch as well

That is fair, and I agree with it. But, I'd still rather them be winning and being talked about then not.

it would only take 1 chick to come forward and say Pokey used her position of power to take advantage of her and sue the school. You can't expose yourself to that. They didn't fire her for being gay, she was fired for inappropriate relationships with players.

Again, I think the act in question was from before she was the head coach so he wouldn't have really had a position of power.

This is more of what I was looking for. Thanks. Didn't really know a lot of that.

Why you bringing this topic up now anyways? Who do you work for?

LSU has a new coach and she is hot and she is winning.

There were acts when she was head coach and assistant, but it was the head coach actions she resigned/fired over. This is clear because LSU reported it had started having 1-2 extra "observers" travel with wbb the last few games because of the complaints...the last stop was Nashville I think.

Assistant coaches are in a position of power. The only way it would be conceivably ok was if they were both players at the same time, then she became a coach. That wasn't the situation.

Pokie probably could have sued LSU if she had been fired.

Sure, and lost.

It was pretty well known that Sue Gunther and Yvette G were both lesbians and they weren't fired for it because they didn't frick players. You honestly don't get why LSU would have a problem with that?

Nah, it's cool when it's two chicks, man. figs are going to hell, though.

an assistant coach isn't a position of power over a player? Didn't realize that....

Pokey was HC for the 3 "middle" ff's and we got blown out in two and beaten pretty bad in other, in first of 5 she was acting HC for Sue who was sick and we lost at buzzer, Starkey also lost at buzzer (to TN again) in 5th FF after Pokey "resigned" last game of season

Assistant coaches don't bench and start players which is the power you were talking about. Of coarse, now it has been explained she was doing that as head coach and was using the power to her advantage. That is f'd up.

It didn't bother me as much as it offended others. I think it happens all the time. Just this time probably the player who wasn't getting PT ratted everyone out.

Being homosexual does not make you unscrupulous. Chapman was both. It is far from normal and results in a firing any time it gets out.

As far as others being offended....they acted more pissed that Brady dated an unaffiliated coed than Chapman muff-diving on a current player.
