He was probably talked to by someone that knows something about hitting and believes that hitters can be coached. PM doesn’t believe that though and has said so.

Please tell me when this has ever been said by CPM

I know he's not trying to sabotage LSU, but for the life of me I can't find a reasonable explanation for the bone headed coaching blunders.

No matter what happened you would have the same opinion. Of course you could think of a reasonable explanation for talking to Crews. How about: Crews was swinging for the fences instead of just trying to get on base. CPM talked to him to drive home the point that a HR was nice but wouldn’t tie the game. What we needed was baserunners.

I’m not saying that happened, but your inability to think of a reasonable explanation shows remarkable stupidity or, more likely, prejudiced thinking.

He once said that hitters can either hit or they can’t. I’ll see if I can’t find it.

you don't call your best hitter over in the middle of an at-bat when he's already worked the count to 3-1.

I agree that it was unnecessary. I just don't think it had any impact on the at bat. I mean, if he got a hit or a HR would anyone say that it was Paul that was the difference? Of course not. Crews is a great hitter. Only reason I could see to call him over would be if it was to set up something with the runners which obviously isn't what was going on.

Did he look like the same player after meeting. Got him thinking about it too much.

Also felt like it gave the pitcher a chance to settle down and collect himself. Just very bizarre to do in a 3-1 count. Did it cost the game ? Who knows? Would PM gotten credit had crews came back up and produced ? Probably not.

Just a frustrating year man.

And it's unacceptable. We could have tied that game up with a FG!
