Recruiting is going to not be as solid when you have this much talent returning. Kids want to play at the end of the day. Let's focus on 2012

People are acting like our Tigers aren't already loaded with talent, and that this is the final recruiting class to EVER BE RECRUITED.

explain USC in the 2000's, Bama's current situation.

This is more an excuse than anything else.

With this being said - I think we have a great class and think Miles & Coaches have recruited based on needs. There are kids that want to stay home (DGB) and there are kids that want to get away (LC) - at the end of the day we got what we needed.

depth really seems to be negatively effecting bama's recruiting.

i didn't realize that we signed a top-tier quarterback, a big receiver with above-average size and strength to replace rueben, and a stud at DT to replace brockers. not to mention a no-doubter at safety.

Wow.... you are right. Our players are WAAAAAY to good to be recruiting these immature freshmen.

By this logic, maybe we skip recruiting next year altogether....

Keep telling yourself that. You know damn well that after that BCSNCG display LSU lost some big recruits.

Losing out on a big time QB really hurt, most people don't want to admit it but it's true. This was a true area of need, and we have absolutely sucked at the position for the last 5 years. No excuse for a program like LSU to suffer through one bad QB after another. If Mett has a stellar year and goes Pro this year, we are screwed.

Yes, I'm sure they did lose some after the NCG. I would be foolish to think otherwise. To me, the bottom line of this class is that you had a tremendous amount of negativity associated with the program following that game and we lost some fringe recruits who could be swayed by that negativity. In exchange I think the staff did a pretty nice job recovering from that by swaying a Safety to switch from A&M to take the place of Collins. They got a "Large" QB to fill the spot vacated by Kiel. Obviously on paper that doesn't look like an even swap but only time will tell and the good thing about Liggens is that if he doesn't work at QB you now have a guy that is versatile, athletic and could be moved to another position. Staff picked up Alexander, #3 prospect in Alabama, to fill slot of Davis. On paper that looks pretty good. Otherwise they pretty much held everyone else they planned to get.

Would it have been nice to pick up a big receiver and a couple of other national recruits. Sure, but so would everyone else want to get those things as well. I think this was a bit of a down year in La. and hopefully next year will bring a higher ranking but at the end of the day we need to remember we won 13 ball games this year with very little QB play. Pretty amazing if you ask me. We just signed a top 15 class by all accounts and that means it is better than 100 other schools in Div. 1 .

Perhaps my perspective as an elder statesman in age allows me to enjoy some of these things, because it wasn't always this way at LSU. Those on here who would spew their venom, which does nothing to build up what we have but serves only to tear it down, would be well served to pull out their history books and look back only a few years and realize these are the golden years of LSU athletics. Please try to tone down the negativity, enjoy where we are and celebrate it and try and be a help rather than a hinderance to the process you claim to be so interested in.

Miami had the #1 recruiting class in 2008.

2008 7-6 Lost in the Emerald Bowl
2009 9-4 Lost in the Champs Sports Bowl
2010 7-5 Lost in Sun Bowl
2011 6-6 playing their last game in front of 43,000 paid (but probably more like 23,000)

Clemson was #2

Where was LSU? #11

Wow! Really? Bama has just as much talent and it doesn't hurt them. Miles dropped the ball in the NCG and dropped the ball in recruiting this year. What's it going to take for people to start to see the writing on the wall?

bama had a ton of talent returning yet finished #1 by virtually every service.
