This is EXACTLY my point when you bring up 2022 and 2023. It’s all about increasing your odds to get to the playoffs not sabotaging them.

IF the Playoffs are the goal and not just tv exposure...then playing a weak opponent every year in game one is an absolute MUST.
LSU will always play a difficult enough SEC schedule that schedule will never hold LSU back from the playoffs if we can manage to not lose more than 2 games a season. one loss per year and LSU is a lock for the playoffs, even if we were to lose the SEC chmphp game.
This is not a difficult decision.
Cancel with Clemson...I'm quite sure they will feel exactly the same way we do and cancel easily.

We have Clemson in 25 and 26 and ASU in 28 and 29. Not too bad.

Again the recent results today prove my point further. It’s all about increasing your chances to make the playoffs. Anyone that thinks it’s a “beta” approach should ask themselves what they want to accomplish. The committee made it clear. Quality wins do not matter compared to record.

I highly doubt they do. Dabo doesn't strike me as the type to run away from something.
Clemson knows that this opening game next year is an easy W. They have the nucleus of their team coming back and they are well aware how good BK is with opening games. They won't be backing out.
If LSU wants out of this game they will likely have to buy it out somehow. Clemson plans on starting 25 and 26 with opening game victories against an SEC team.
