I'll be honest, the guys who come in really hoping to be 2 way players I generally write off a bit to some degree thinking they wont have an impact early because they try to do too much to start out. He gave up hitting pretty quick to focus on pitching and its paying dividends now.

Not sure if I read it on here or one of my buddies told me, but in his interview with Mahtook he said he wanted to be a two way player but quickly realized he hated trying to balance both of them and so that's when he began focusing on just pitching.

I remember Milam told Mahtook "I was fielding ground balls with him at short stop during the fall and next thing you know I'm batting against him while hitting BP. After my first time hitting against him I thought, well this dude is nasty, he needs to stick with this pitching thing"

You are spot on re: Pearson. The Louisiana connection is keeping him in the lineup and blocking younger players from getting reps. Very unusual that you see a coach pass over talent that could help u in the future for talent that you know is done after this run. I am sure he is a great program guy but this does not set you up for the future.

Shitty take is shite. If Larson deserved to be playing over JP he would be. He hasn't been doing shite at the plate. Pearson has paid his dues and earned his stripe here. If Larson or any young talent is willing to stick it out and do the same, they'll have a chance to do so in the future

Curiel is also still a stud

I heard Lyn Rollins say during the La Tech game that he is the only player to have reached base
at least once in every game this year. He did so in all 3 Oklahoma games as well. Not bad for a true freshman!

I was in Chapel Hill last year and watched him pitch for Wofford. He’s the real deal. Nobody could touch him, and Jay noticed big time.

Love guys with pitchability like Cowan. He reminded me of Tanner Hall from USM. I think Cowan is a little better.

Pisses me off when I hear hacks like Moscona call him a two pitch guy.

He actually has a 4 pitch mix, but his change up is so elite he would be crazy not to use it heavily.

He’s in the mix but has just been passed up rn. He’s not even in the top 4 bats off the bench. He’s the 4th LH bat in the rotation.

He's a dude Solo. Glad Jay went out and got him as soon as he entered the portal.

Yep. I hope he stays the course and comes out for us on the other end. We already know what he can do. I'm just tired of hearing the same old narrative about the in state guys that we have. They have proven that they belong and Jay's decisions and lineups back up my statement.

Unfortunately K-State and now Kansas may prove to be too appealing to him if he decides to enter the portal after the season ends. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he decided to go home and play in front of friends and family every game either. He would likely excel at either school.

For the record I don’t think Pearson being from Louisiana has anything to do with him playing.

I think it has to do with this board having blinders on when it comes to Pearson. If Braswell had Pearsons stat line, people would be losing their minds if he ever got close to seeing the field. Yet Pearson gets statistically worse every year in the SEC and “he deserves the at bats”

He deserves to be one of the first bats off the bench at best and his career SEC avg suggests he will be clutch 24% of the time while occasionally running into one.

I would love nothing more than for Pearsons last at bat to be a walk off in Omaha for the 8th CWS. I love the Louisiana connections just as much as the next guy. Take Larson out of the mix and just go Brown vs Pearson, and there is zero statistical evidence why Brown should ever be on the bench in favor of Pearson.

From where I’m sitting, Pearson gets a pass on this board bc he is from Louisiana.

Meh. Larson is struggling and I'm not advocating for him to be in the weekend lineup, BUT Larson hasn't exactly been given a lot of chances either. He had an amazing game in the opening series and didn't start the next 3 games.

Pearson is barely scratching .200 in SEC play this year, and he'll start at least 2 games this coming weekend. Larson led the team in SEC BA last year with .337 and hasn't had an SEC at bat this season.

Career -> .259 batting average overall and .242 in SEC play.

Currently -> leading the outfield in errors and batting .212 in SEC games (lowest on the team)
