Pitching help for next year

Besides getting Noot healthy and shores back, any freshman coming in that we know of that could be a solid starter? I think it’s time to let some of the bench relievers go and bring in some new fresh blood into the pitching staff.

Freshmen dont usually come in and become solid starters. The answers are already likely in the building mixed in with a transfer or two

Unfortunately, some of our pitchers need to be processed out of the program so they can find spots where they will be more competitive and then we need to search the portal to get guys that can help us who are a step up from what we have now with regard to our relievers

It's already started to have been asked, but at what point do we think Yeskie was not a good hire? The last time he had a good output from his pitching staff was back in 2019 at Oregon State. 2020 was covid shutdown year at Arizona, and since then it's been mediocre to bad pitching at Arizona, A&M and now LSU.
Fact is, our pitching staff is WAY WAY worse than they should be. There is not some lack of talent there right now. We were fed all offseason from the coaches themselves the strength of the team was in pitching and it was the deepest pitching staff Jay ever had. We've lost 3 "sunday" SEC games (or last game of series) by run rule now. That is beyond embarrassing for a pitching staff at LSU. We have held an SEC game under 6 runs just ONCE since the first Florida game which was 9 games ago now. Giving up 6+ runs a game effectively is not a winning formula in the SEC, much less with our lineup struggling to produce runs.

When he has had more than half season to coach his pitching staff. He didn’t get to recruit most of these guys. And he’s only gotten to know them since the fall. This is the fourth pitching coach in four years. A little stability would not hurt.

I honestly never understand this type of questioning. How would anyone know until players get to campus and start pitching? The guys we have now were highly ranked. How does it make logical sense to say "the highly ranked guys we have now aren't pitching well, do we have any highly ranked guys coming in next year to save the day??" Who knows...

I could be wrong, but in my opinion, I think CJJ will do whatever he has to do to make sure next year we have better pitching depth and better coaching

He obviously will probably get more than just this season, but I think this is a bit of a cop out as well. He has all the talent in the world at his disposal already in the pitching staff, again, we were sold that this staff was as deep as Jay has ever had anywhere. Tons and tons of left handed arms.
Very very few have been successful or better under Yeskie than they have been previously. There's still time to turn this season around and finish stronger, but the results so far have been nothing short of a disaster there.

I need to find the old report on Chase Silseth. He was drafted out of Arizona (off their Omaha team) and made it to the majors faster than anyone else in his draft class (playing for the Angels had a lot to do with that).
But the report essentially said the key to his success and quick rise was throwing a pitch he had success with in JUCO but wasn't allowed to throw at Arizona (where he was the ace of the staff with a 5+ ERA).
That's always stuck in the back of my mind with Yeskie.
