New guys are stepping up as well. Really feel like our defense can keep us in every game until Jay figures out the perfect lineup

Holman is gonna be elite for us this year. Any word on who gets the ball tomorrow?

We had 2 errors yesterday, right? Although I don't know what kind of errors.

Feel like it’s going to be Coleman but wouldn’t be surprised if they run Johnson out there. Jay isn’t afraid of starting a freshman but seeing him warm up in the 9th makes me think it’s Coleman.

Feels like Coleman & Kade Anderson are lining up to start the next two.

Though I feel like he could throw Hellmers a bone as well.

Yes…braswell/jones on that play that hit the runner and then we had a bad pick off with Loer.

If Jones hits a dinger every game, I'll overlook the errors.

1 error was on a pitcher picking off to 1B.

They’ll get it together. A lot of people will talk about Crews being missed, but the biggest loss is Morgan at 1st in my opinion. We were spoiled for three years by him

Jones makes me feel nervous but moving on from Morgan is no easy task for anyone

Really hope Coleman is healthy and confident. We could have a weekend starting rotation we haven’t seen since 2017

Jones made a great pick on the play Cent. Ark challenged. I’m not sure if his foot was on the bag or not, but the pick was impressive.

He’s not bad @ 1st, just not as athletic as Trey. He will never make the play Trey did in Omaha, but I do think he does a better job of picking balls out of the dirt than Trey did. That’s the one area I thought Trey needed to improve on.

Jones is also a pretty big target for the infielders to throw to & I think his size may get us several outs this season.

Jones only makes people nervous because we’re used to seeing the most athletic player in baseball at first the last three years. He’s fine

We gave up 8 runs to VMI! We're going to have to score 16+ to win SEC games. Last I checked, Dylan Crews ain't here. Buckle up for a mediocre year.

If you don't like it, then meet me at the Sonic in Omaha at the end of the season because I'm only joking

I know you’re joking. Didn’t VMI have a top 5 offense and most stolen bases last year? The pickoff by Milazo yesterday was beautiful.

Jared Jones is on pace to hit 56 home runs and have 140 RBIs in just the regular season...

Defensively, yes. Love the new infield with apologies to Tre Morgan. Jones is a big target, and started off good at first defensively. And 2 homers in 2 games is ok. Guess we should give him a few more ABs to see if he come around. Also, love the outfield. The catch by Kling was something. Pearson is one of my favorites wherever he plays. Milam was very good today. Braswell gets the ball out of his glove like a big leaguer.

Pitching so far is good, not great. This happens frequently early in the season. The number of strikeouts in each game was impressive, though. But there was some rust showing from most of the guys we saw. Holman is not on that list. The guy is in midseason form. Gage Jump was also impressive. The others were good, but we should see better outings from them going forward. We are crazy deep and will be fine. This season is going to be fun!

Good post. Teams are gonna have a hard time with our outfielders speed that’s for sure. Jay is an elite coach knowing how to position his players to get the most out of them.
