Maybe Bertman field at Alex Box Stadium, but "The Box" needs to keep that name.

The Mobile Baybear's stadium is much nicer.

First of all, you are comparing apples to oranges. professional vs college, taxpayer paid vs athletic department/fan paid. But, on to the subject, based on the pics below, I wouldn't be bragging about Mobile's Hank Aaron Stadium.

Now, this is a great park. But, again, it's a professional ball park, paid for by the taxpayers of Memphis and major sponsorship from Autozone. I am not so sure naming the new LSU baseball stadium after a corporation would go over well with tiger fans.

Unless they changed their mind, it IS going to be named "Skip Bertman Field at Alex Box Stadium". That was what I heard from the start.

2 questions:

Will there be outfield seating?

Any idea on capacity?

I am hoping Dudy Noble can keep that Super Regional attendance record. There are only 2 schools that are capable of touching it, Arky and LSU.

There will be outfield seating in left field just as there was with the old Alex Box. I think in Phase 2 a berm will be added in right field.

Right now capacity is 8,800 with room to expand to over 12,000.

Good deal. I can't wait til MSU/LSU means something again in baseball. LSU has recently regained its swagger. Give us a couple of years and Cohen will have us back.

Here's to our series deciding the West.

Did Ron Polk make good on his threat to take his name off the stadium at State?

During the Coaches COmmittee meting last month, Coach Maneri said there would be a rotating sponsor board (like in the PMAC). I don't remember if he said it would be there for '09 or '10.

...Side note- the scoreboard is going to cost $1.8 million. How awesome is that?

No intimidator sign per Coach Maneri at the last coaches committee meeting.

Just based on my observations (don't know anything as fact), I would say based on the 2 photos below (the first of the outfield fence at the new Alex Box and the second of the outfield fence at the new Tiger park), I would say there is a good chance there won't be advertising on the outfield fence. They would not be putting up chain link if they intended to have a sheet metal fence like the old Alex Box. Sheet metal is conducive to having painted advertising. Padding is not.

thats a pretty good point.

here is a few pics that I took today from my new seats in he new box! if anyone sits in section 103 this is a pretty good idea of the view from this section!

and here is one of the "bench back" seating that all sections except behind the outfield wall and the grandstand have!

Plenty more foul area behind homeplate and down the dugout lines than old Alex Box which was a miniscule shooting gallery. New Box looks like Chavez Ravine for Collegians outside the lines?

College Baseballers hit lots of fouls behind home, and short flares.
