The guy who had Ole Miss winning the West last year.
Did he predict that Nutt would win three in a row vs Miles?

If he had predicted LSU to finish 1st in the west and a top 5 team, you and 99% of the posters around here would be lining up to give him a BJ.
This is correct!!!!!!!!!!

I am more surprised people actually think LSU will win 9 games this year.
I love LSU football but I do not see LSU winning more than 8 games and could see LSU win 6 or 7.
I sure hope I am wrong though!

They have the talent to. BUT They have a iffy QB and we have seen what Miles has done with talent. Great recruting is a two part deal. Getting great players is one thing. Coaching then is another.

Phil is about as accurate as they come. I think 9 wins, or 8.5 is pretty much the O/U for LSU this year
There is a huge difference between setting the OU at 8.5 and saying that a team won't win 9 games. The latter is like setting the OU at about 7, maybe 6 wins.

I love how people throw in Phil's accuracy.... well when it comes to predicting how a teams season turns out, well that is just called luck. Now if Phil was at a Casino I would have him roll the dice, but I will take our chances on the field and see how it turns out.

You bet they would. Some of these threads need to be revisited later this season, for sure. People who fly off the handle will surely be embarrassed. FWIW, Stassen, who compiles statistics and tracks these things has claimed Steele is by far the most accurate prognosticator in college football. This doesn't mean all his predictions will be true.

Everyone talks about how he thought Ole Miss would win the West last year.I don't really worry about his predictions. He mag is da bomb if you want info. I have been buying these preseason mags for over 40 years and I have NEVER seen anything close to his.

FWIW, Phil Steele was the ONLY person from national publications/media to predict us to win the BCS in 2004.

No he didn't.

Barring injury I'd say he's right about Adams and certainly he could be right about the record. Without drastically improved offensive production the Tigers could win as few as six or seven. I personally think the offense does some improving and the defense will be marginally better therefore nine or ten wins(counting a bowl game) is attainable.

Obviously the jury's still out with so many new guys on the offensive staff. The spring game coaching looked to be a bit improved in general, though you could not tell it at QB.

I guess with a $4 million coach we have to wait and see again.
SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

He say who our new coach is gonna be?
Unless we go sub .500 and he bangs Lombardi's wife, this isn't going to happen. Economics, politics, and the fact there is no surefire big name available prevent this.

we were #3 i think in his group of "dark horse" candidates to make the championship game. he deserves some credit for even mentioning us when few others were but he didn't exactly lay his dick on the table and pick us to win it all. charles hanigriff did though - i wonder what his prediction is this year.
i've also heard steele say that we're one of the hardest teams to project for 2010.
