I don't know about the rest of their DBs but OSU has one very legit CB.
I doubt the reasoning for their high ranking is based off one player, but if this were the case, NC State should be up there, solely because of Amerson.

The last few years he's slipped a lot imo.
Especially last year when he picked Alabama to win the NC

FSU is not a bad pick, I know its fashionable to rag on them, but they lost 3 in a row last year with their QB hurt. They have been recruiting well and have talent..

quote:I mean, yea, Oklahoma State was only second in total interceptions last year with 24, And giving up only 15 TD's they the air. Ranked 20th in the nation in opponent passing efficiency, and 24th in yards per pass at 6.5.
Does not compute
They bring back 2 DB's, Justin Gilbert and the beast Brodrick Brown, both of whom had 5 picks last year, as well as 2 other DB's who recorded at least 1 pick.
So yea, 4 starters returning in a secondary that was one of the best despite being young last season. No way they should be ranked that high, right? Right?

LSU returns a Heisman Finalist/All-American (TM7), Eric Reid named by some as the best returning safety in the country, Tharold Simon the next lockdown corner in a longline of lockdown corners (and hes 6'3"), and then there is Loston who is a hard hitter who is a little unproven but a former 5 star recruit with tons of potential (injuries have kept him)

and Herbstreit had FSU's DB's ranked number 1 last year ahead of LSU. I think Steele has a bit of Herbstreit in him (on LSU). He has become increasing reluctant to give LSU the top nod in anything.

FSU held teams to some bs # rush per carry
2.4 or something heard it on the four letter crapola
so based on the shitty acc, they can be #1 dl
but that don't mean its true

yeah, like the rantard who went and posted that on Stony Brook's website.
That really made him look smart.

I heard some good arguments for and against PS. OSU and UT will likely have more yards put up on them because of who they play. OU, Baylor, WVU, TT, all are pass happy plus OSU when they play Texas. Texas A&M and Arkansas are the only SEC that pass a lot.

Fsu sucks, what have they won in the last few years?

I don't agree in any way, shape or form about the DL ranking. We should be #1 until further notice. Our guys are proven. FSU is deeper and has more "stars" and actually have played well but LSU should be #1. I do think it's closer than some but also feel the same way with UF's group.
As for DBs, I can definitely see why Texas is #1. They return everyone but Gideon and that is addition by subtraction. They're loaded at DB and very young. I watched them plenty last year and they're very good. They don't have the name recognition of TM7 and Reid(aside from Vacarro) but their group is more experienced and deeper than ours as far as proven talent goes. We only have 3 kids that have proven anything,Mathieu,Reid and Simon. Loston doesn't deserve benefit of the doubt and everyone else has played very little or none so far. I know we all love Mathieu and defend him endlessly but if he were on an island with Robert Woods in the final seconds and the game on the line next January, would you be confident? If the answer is no then you have some of the possible reasoning that Steele used. I can't say I'd be confident in that situation.

FSUs defense shut out the Gator offense....while the FSU offense was only able to pick up 90 yards of offense. FSU's defense definitely improved throughout the season.
LSU didn't dominate the UF offense that badly and we had two true freshman making their first real appearance in the SEC that game.

LSU logic.

LSU beat UF 41-11. LSU allowed 213 yards.
FSU beat UF 21-7 which is not a shutout. FSU allowed 184 total yards.
Not that much of a difference if you ask me.

Nothing like a nice, unbiased source.

The same thing FSU won in 93 and 99, like most of the others you are missing the point.

Not sure what this means. After 14 years of dominance, FSU has not done anything in the last decade or so, that's true. Its also irrelevant to the 2012 season and beyond. There's a certain irony in LSU fans, saying a team can't be great just because in the recent past they have been bad.

quote:1 Heisman finalist and another big name doesn't automatically mean you're the best secondary. Simon is not a household name, and Loston is all hype at this point.
