PETA trying to remove Mike?

I have heard and read about petitions to keep PETA from retiring and removing Mike. I read that they are trying to keep us from getting another Mike after VI retires.
Do any of you have information about this?
If it is true, Mike has it better than most zoos. The only thing I can think of to make it better is a Mrs. Mike.

Let's say LSU gives up Mike the Tiger, where would mike go? Back to the rescue facility. Back to Siberia? Oh but wait he's half Bengal. Cut him in half and send half home to Siberia and half to India.

PETA would like to remove all animals from captivity not sure why them not liking mike would comes as a shock.

Yeah I think they'd probably just want him euthanized. I doubt they would advocate releasing him to the wild and he's not going to find much of a better place in captivity.
