If so, i like our chances. Perk thrives in space. See ball get ball. Not surprising our ability to stop mobile QBs greatly diminished after he went down last year.

This strategy didn't work so well last year, so I'm not sure why you would be so confident.

vs. South Carolina

Sellers: 10 rushes for 88 yards and 2 TDs.

vs. Bama

Milroe: 12 rushes for 185 yards and 4 TDs

vs. A&M

Reed: 9 rushes for 62 yards and 3 TDs.

Well you just kinda proved my point. Aside from the USCe game where Sellers went off (before getting hurt), Perk didn't play in any of the other games.

Im confident based on his freshman tape when they let Perk be Perk

he only issue I see with Perkins being the Star is that you can force that position into coverage nearly every down if LSU is in

we have others capable of spying. Why not disguise the spy.....they won't know who to target.

The wonderful thing about this defense is that they can spy the QB without tipping their hand as to who is the spy. Certainly it should usually be Perkins, because he is the most explosive. But Whit Weeks is also explosive, and we can fool Clemson by swapping that spy role between them every third time or so.

We actually plan to pull the other 10 guys off the field and let Perkins do it all himself since he's better than all of those guys anyway and go 1 v 11. I like his chances.

It also limits the chances of injury to those other 10 guys. Four-D chess; I like it.

I hope he has Honey Badger instincts Saturday. Play with no pressure to make every play, but play within the Def scheme and eat.

So Perk is gonna be wearing the green dot? Guess he wont be coming off the field too often. There goes that narrative

Speed is needed to be a spy, and good open field tackler.

We gonna run that play from the wayerboy where everyone shifts to side and just line up perk solo on the other side.

Clemson won't know what hit em

Klubnik ran for an average of 33 yards per game in 2024.

LSU does not need to spy him.

This is actually one of my keys to the game. If Perkins can be what we think he can be and fly around making 2023 type plays, making Klubnik pass, creating chaos, tackles for losses, he may be the reason why we can win Saturday

Perkins is a football player that needs to be allowed to be a player. They've throttled him. Turn him loose.

Meh. The other 10 guys on the field played a HUGE part in that. We have upgraded the defensive talent and depth immensely. A lot of people are sleeping on how much of a difference Haucey and Delane are going to make due to their ability to come up and make tackles. That is going to make a world of difference. When Baker has confidence in his DBs making plays in the run game, and the penetration we should get from the DL relative to last year—particularly up the middle, he’s going to be able to get much more creative and take more chances, because the risk won’t be as high this year. And it’s his 2nd year, so he’s been able to install much more of his defense than he was able to his 1st year.

And you can’t determine anything relative to Perkins based on his ‘23 season. 1, he actually had a really good season—it just looked different. But our DBs were so bad in both coverage and tackling, that House wasn’t able to take as many chances with Perk. If he was sent and missed, there was nobody behind him House could trust to clean up. And House’s defense wasn’t as aggressive as Baker’s. Especially with the DTs.

It’s a different defense, a better, more creative, and more aggressive DC in Baker, and Peoples is a fricking stud in teaching pass rush that will show up there and in TFLs in the running game. Nothing that has come before matters regarding Perk, except we know how good of an athlete he is and in ‘23 we learned he can cover. ‘25 is a brand new year, and I can’t imagine the defense is not at least really good. Possibly great. Barring injuries, of course. And we are going to create a ton of turnovers imo.

He won't. That's not his position anymore. He'll be in coverage

Perk did not spy a single one of those QBs

He’ll be in coverage some. But if you don’t think he’ll be allowed to come from the star, you’re crazy. They are even lining him up on the edge in certain packages. He may not have much success there, because teams will always know where he is on the field and pay attention to him. But that will just open up other guys to be free to make plays. If you think Perk is just gonna lineup at the Star and let offenses dictate that he stays in coverage, then you underestimate Baker’s defense, his aggressiveness, and the upgrade in talent and depth that we have in all 3 levels this year.

I would’ve loved to have seen what a healthy 2022 version (or this year version) of Perkins could’ve done with Milroe.

OK, but is there a rule you have to announce what we are going to do on defense?

On some plays, but I suspect that we'll have one of our safeties spying in certain situations. Expect to see AJ Haulcy make some big plays.
