Perkins Enters Top 15 for Heisman Race

Amazing that he started the season playing sparingly. I am glad they figured out how to get this young man on the field. He will be a joy to watch the rest of the year and the next two years.

Jayden Daniels is listed at #9, Harold Perkins is listed as tied at #15. Amazing to have two Tigers in the top 15 this late in the season!

Geaux Tigers!

If he keeps it up, he's a lock to be in New York 2 years in a row (2023 and 2024).

If LSU pulls a natty in one of the those two, there's a good chance he wins it. Best player on the best team in the country...

Jayden would have a really good chance at winning it if he would play his best every game

WAYYYY to early to say such things. You have to hope immediate success doesn't change his mindset. That is easy to do for for an immature 18 year old (and we were ALL immature at 18).

Matheiu had a great freshman year. He followed it up with arguably the most dominant non-offensive season we've ever seen at LSU. And that was it. He was out after two seasons.

Arden Key flashed quickly as a Freshman. In 2016 he was a dominant edge rusher. He looked like sure 1st round pick and All American...then he stopped caring in 2017.

Notoriety is coming quickly. He's known outside of LSU circles now. He will likely be a preseason All American going into next season with months of offseason chatter about him being the most dominant defender in college football. Will he go the Arden Key route? Or will he be someone like Devin White who just continued to get better and better with an effort and focus that never changed?

I am very hopeful that Coach Kelly will guide Harold to a continuing constructive path. Coaching matters!

But if he played his best every game, how would you know if that was truly his best?

All you have to do is look at Williams of Alabama. He had a dominant year
last year and is mediocre this year. That’s why I like Devin White so much,
he came into his junior year with a first round grade and played hard and improved.

I’ve always thought how much better that 2019 defense would have been if #40 decided to stay. Patrick Queen showed out regardless but still.

#40s leadership helped change the culture in 2018.

House deserves a ton of credit putting Perkins in positions to shine. It’s fitting he picked #40 too. LSU has always had horses but with this coaching staff seeming to put them in positions to succeed and changing the culture at the same time. Who knows what will happen but it’s tough to not get excited about the possibilities

I wonder if the staff will keep using him as a rover.

Sometimes guys flash early when they can play instinctively. They then seem to have a down year as they play a more traditional role. You also get guys, like Delpit, that appear to regress when they simply don’t have a good supporting cast.

. We’ve had so many great players like Devin White who come through here and bail out on LSU their junior year at the expense of the team. Who knows how many great bowl games and/or national championships we could’ve won if we didn’t have so many selfish juniors?
