percentage of teams that go 12-0, 11-1, 10-2

in the regular season vs teams that aspire to (that have an actual shot at doing it)
im not going to look it up, but I'm sure the percentage of top tier, and whatever the tier is right underneath, teams that believe realistically they can achieve that record and the actual number are drastically different. to expect to do that well every year is pretty much insanity, cause you won't ever do it.

Whay does everyone just love being in the second tier of teams now? Remember how fun it was to wake up Saturday morning and know we were going to beat the hell out of somebody? Instead now we have to hope we can beat somebody I mean COME ON.

Some teams either do it, or come extremely close to it. Texas and Florida come to mind, along with USC. Florida State did it for something like 15 years in a row at one point. The fact is that there are very few teams positioned to do this in terms of resources, facilities, recruiting base, etc. LSU is one of those few. That we fail to take advantage of that incredibly good positioning is truly a shame.

But with the resources LSU has, money LSU has, in-state talent LSU has...it's not far-fetched to expect 10-2 or better every year. This isn't South Carolina or NC State. LSU should not have an excuse to have a 5 loss season 2 years in a row with a 3rd looking imminent. While I can understand one mediocre season due to the prestige of our conference. This is LSU, and you shouldn't have an excuse for eeking out wins over Troy and my Louisiana Tech.
If the players and coaches never expect success and re-play it in their mind that you will be successful, then they can't be. Yes it's arrogant but this is LSU.

If you don't wake up excited to be a LSU tiger every saturday in the fall then please don't break your leg falling of the bandwagon.
Wake up everyday proud to be a tiger.

The instate talent is inconsistant. especially since katrina. look at the draft, how many louisiana boy's, including mcknight, are loading up the draft board? since 2004 (six years) we have had Mcknight, woods, jones, davenport and randal as five star talent. In 2001 we had whitworth, speers, clayton, and hill as five star talent. it does look to be on the rebound starting in 2011.
second, lsu did not have a five loss season last year. therefore, they can not make a five loss season for three years in a row.
lastly, california has as much if not the most talent of any state in the country. u.s.c. as much money if not more than any other school. how many games did u.s.c. lose last year?
check out oklahoma, miami, f.s.u., michigan, penn st, georgia all have the same resources or more than lsu. if it was as easy as stated, everyone one of these schools would never lose more than 2 games in any year as you suggested.
do i accept mediocrity? nope. I want to be the best. however, i'm realistic enough to know, you're never going to be on top all the time. (see baseball, u.n.c. basketball) some years aren't going to be as good as others. unlike some fans, i believe we still have very good years ahead. i haven't given up and written off the future.

Now look up percentage of teams that pay their coaches 4 million a year and accept 4 or 5 losses.

again, miles does not make four million a year.
stoops, carol, weis, tressel, meyer, brown, bowden, saban ect all made as much or more than miles. peterno, by choice, makes less. richt is not far behind.

He makes damn close to it, about $3.8 million or so.

Miles made more than Saban in 2008, excluding incentive bonuses that Saban earned and he didn't. I'm also skeptical of some of the other names on your list. After the 2007 NC, Miles became one of the top two or three paid coaches in the country.

Correct, in 2008, miles became, after a n.c., one of the top three highest paid coaches. Carol and weis were 1 and 2. 2009, florida won the n.c, meyer got a raise to over 4 mil, saban went undefeated in the s.e.c, got a raise to over 4 mil., brown just got a raise to five million. Tressel just got a long term contract. 3.5 million a year, He will also receive annual pay increases of 3 percent to 4 percent under a contract that will run until Jan. 31, 2013. Mark Richt, Georgia $3.096 million. Iowa's Kirk Ferentz will pocket a guaranteed $4.6 million in an atypical 13-month period ending in June.
Miles get's paid a lot of money. however, there are coaches making close to what he makes and some that made more than he did and not win a n.c. (weis and ferentz)

Neither is coaching in college any more.

That's three, all of which have performed MUCH better than Miles the last two years and have EARNED what they make.

Both less than Miles. Tressel has still performed better for less money, though.

Slightly more. And coaching at IOWA, for God's sake. How in the hell do you recruit to Iowa?

Yes, one coached at a private school that doesn't relax its academic standards much for football players and has a policy of not redshirting. The other coaches in the middle of nowhere at a program that has never been an elite power.
We used to make fun of Alabama in 2007 for the amount they paid their coach per win produced. Now, they are getting a better deal than we are, by far.
According to your numbers, he's the 5th highest paid coach in college football right now. But his team is nowhere near top 5.
