I actually agree with your sentiment--that Kelly should publicly shoot this down.
But as we realize, coaches don't usually make comments about prospective recruits until they have signed and the school has received their papers.
I don't even recall any instances of coaches making public comments on line or to the media that they are no longer pursuing players at a specific position.

I don't see why Caleb would be considered an immediate threat to Brennan. Brennan would still start while Caleb will come in a couple times a game
Having loyalty to a long-time LSU player is fine, but PLAY THE BEST PLAYER. Which would clearly be Williams.

I don’t agree with anyone who says coach Kelly needs to publicly shoot it down. If Brennan still needs confidence after being at LSU for a billion years then he isn’t that dude. He has no reason to go anywhere until something actual happens. And even then who truly knows.
People would turn down 2 years of a first round talent QB, because they are that attached emotionally to one player with previous injury issue. I just don’t get it.

We’re not getting Caleb. I’d believe it if Myles wasn’t coming back. Myles would’ve never came back if Caleb was considering being at LSU

And when williams told Brady he was heading to OU, Brady decided to leave. It eas the final straw...in a way
