Nobody in their right mind is going to pass up a head coaching gig at these schools to be OC here for starters. Also OC's aren't leaving their teams before they play their bowl game, do you understand how unprofessional that is? So unless you're looking for an OC that didn't become bowl eligible or you want one that's unemployed, you aren't making an OC hire at the beginning of December.

ETA: Alleva has nothing to do with the OC hire so just shut up already.

well...you stated that they do it to become a HC all the time...not the same thing?

Briles, Applewhite, or Helfrich would be options, no?

I would hope that is not the case- the longer this drags out, the more I think that Kiffin is probably not the right answer for us...

Is a head coach of a program and OC the same thing? Ask yourself that moron. Briles isn't happening, he's got way too much baggage. I wouldn't mind Helfrich but he's never left the the PAC. Sterling Gilbert is another but I'm not sure we are going after an air raid guy. You have to understand there is a difference between spread and air raid.

ETA: Applewhite is still in the running for the UH job. UH is the real holdup in the grand scheme of things.

So we're mad that the HC hire was too fast,

I don't give a shite about the speed of any hire as long as there is some validity to the hire being the best available.

We didn't see that in our HC hire and while that doesn't make me mad, it does make me very concerned over the future of LSU football and LSU sports in general. Anyone not concerned after the football clusterfrick and our last three basketball hired has their head buried in the sand.

I think O has a handle on who his candidates are and where they are respectively.

go over to the coach change board and start tracking airlines

I hope so because this hire was his selling point to become HC

Haven't we learned that locked up doesn't mean locked up? Hell, ours could be "locked up" and we wouldn't know about it.

They cant understand this. If Orgeron is successful they deem his hire as the right move.

well it shouldn't be.
Is the plan going with O not that we will be paying our Coordinators big money, money big enough that they won't leave to go be a coach at fricking Houston?
Is Houston going to pay whoever they hire 3+ million?
They paid Herman $1.5M his first year, then got an extension for $2.8M after a year.

Would Aranda leave to be a head coach at Houston for the same money he is the DC at LSU? or would he continue to work and excel at LSU and wait for a bigger opportunity, like Kirby Smart, Bo Pelini, Will Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher did.
Is that not the plan here?

Relax. Other coaches will get more recruiting time if we have a vacant position.

Yes, absolutely, if his goal is to be a colllege HC. Houston has been a launching pad for multiple coaches to get good P5 jobs. A coach is much more likely to get that HC gig he wants with some success there, rather than success as a coordinator anywhere. Houston also has plenty of $$. Their next coach will probably get 2-3 million and their facilities are not bad. They are primed for success in that conference. Kiffen will take if offered, and O understands that, it'd be the right decision.
