The missed FG return by Beckham has created a new NCAA stat category on all-purpose yds in stats - Miscellaneous Yards.

So is this the first time this has ever happened in college football? I've seen in a time or 2 in the pros, but never college.

lol

I had turned the game off right before his return to go out with some friends and I looked at the box score on my phone. For the longest time it said he had a 100 yard kick off return and I was going crazy trying to figure out how he returned a kickoff when UAB had not scored.

Devon Hester did it for the Bears a few years ago, but that was the first time I ever remember seeing it or hearing of it.

It's not a new category. He's just only one in it right now so it's new so far this season

It sucks they don't record it like the NFL does, because OBJ was literally toeing the back line when he caught it and it was a legit 109 yard return. I remember when Nathan Vasher returned a field goal 108 yards for the Bears at Soldier Field which was the longest NFL play at the time. It was broken a few years later by Cromartie as someone already stated, but awesome stuff from OBJ. That will long be remembered by Tigah fans!

This. A field goal attempt is the same thing as a punt. A scrimmage kick.
